Seriously? Thats a made up name if ever there was.

OP posts:
HottestEverRecordedTemperature · 02/01/2024 18:40

Our friend Henk's longer name was Hendrick.

You know. Like Henry.

Not a real name either, I suppose.

quantumbutterfly · 02/01/2024 18:40

Looking forward to storm Balonz when they come back round the alphabet.

pigsDOfly · 02/01/2024 18:43

it's very possible that people from the Netherlands might find your name ridiculous OP.

Just because you've not come across a name before doesn't mean it's sprung from someone's weird imagination.

There are names from all over the world that you've doubtless never heard of. Does that make them all 'ridiculous'?

HappyHamsters · 02/01/2024 18:44

catwith9lives · 02/01/2024 18:37

Why on earth do storms need names? Why are we personifying the weather?!

The names start with a then go through the alphabet so h is always going to be the 8th storm to compare year on year

Topseyt123 · 02/01/2024 18:44

Henk is a perfectly good Dutch name, and I believe was put forward by the Dutch met office.

Why is it ridiculous? What a xenophobic thing to say.

Rockfordpeach · 02/01/2024 18:45

I know a Henk

TheCompactPussycat · 02/01/2024 18:46

It's Dutch. The UK, Irish and Dutch meteorological agencies collaborate to name storms since we tend to be affected by the same ones.

VerityUnreasonble · 02/01/2024 18:48

Poor @HenkJnr Sad

FuckingHellAdele · 02/01/2024 18:48

Dim AND xenophobic. Go you!

Are you racist as well?

Girahim · 02/01/2024 18:49

Don't Look up the list of names for upcoming storms. Some of them are also swoons foreign.

Baggingarea · 02/01/2024 18:52

Henky penky

spanishviola · 02/01/2024 18:53

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/01/2024 18:36

They rotate, English Dutch and Irish I think.

This.

AuntPru · 02/01/2024 18:53

PMSL here - I'll let my uncle Henk know! What's your view on Gerrit? Just so I can let my other uncle know! (Yes, I am Dutch)

newoldfluff · 02/01/2024 18:53

Of course it's a name. They aren't thick.

Well you learn something new every day.

Still a ridiculous name though lol

What a bizarre point of view

FuckingHellAdele · 02/01/2024 18:54

Suspect the OP is off googling 'what does xenophobic mean?'

DidiAskYouThough · 02/01/2024 18:54

How embarrassing for you @tescocreditcard

Hobnobswantshernameback · 02/01/2024 18:54

Do you find all non English names weird?
How pathetic

VisionsOfSplendour · 02/01/2024 18:58

Did it really not occur to you that the people who name the storms might, you know, be aware of what's a name and what isn't?

Did you think you spotted a fatal flaw in their policy and no one else had noticed?

isthismylifenow · 02/01/2024 18:59

JoeLovesGina · 02/01/2024 18:37

I think it's pronounced Hank.

Not the way we pronounce it, we use the 'e' sound.

EarringsandLipstick · 02/01/2024 19:01

Imagine being so utterly ignorant & xenophobic.

DonnasShrugaleros · 02/01/2024 19:03

Is this a joke?

Hobnobswantshernameback · 02/01/2024 19:05

Betting my last fiver the OP won't be back

allmyliesaretrue · 02/01/2024 19:06

tescocreditcard · 02/01/2024 18:35
