I’m very very ready for my young adult children to go home now ?

Case for the prosecution:

  1. LUNCH. My GOD JUST HAVE A SANDWICH. Why can’t young people eat lunch food? Not pasta or bagels or cooked this or that
  2. Inability to take the bins out
  3. work calls that take up a whole room
  4. GLASSES everywhere
I love them obviously. But they can go home now.

(They are any day )

People are more aware of what they are eating these days and it’s great that things like social media have impacted young people in at least one way!!

Why wouldn’t you want your kids to be invested in their health/diet/gym and the nutritional value of what they’re eating?

Doteycat · 02/01/2024 19:14

Yep. Why? On erasmus.

she must have one hell of a tough time sharing a student house!!!

Not enough eye roll in the world for this.

Love the cheese grater fury

so that I don’t sound like a complete bitch. My son has just made me delicious steak with rosemary butter

Yy to the lunches. My two haven't left home yet but they told me that they don't like to eat "British" food for lunch. 🙄

I bought 4kg of noodles and soy sauce in 1l bottles and told them to make their own.

( meant to add with all the eggs and veg cooked and with the chopsticks and in the proper ramen bowl and cooked in pans and lots of other dishes brought out and lots of other cutlery...)
I'm watching all this unfolding as I bite into a cheese butty for lunch.

Do we have the same child? 🤣

I found a mug in the bathroom the other day 😒

Brightredtulips · 02/01/2024 19:40

Yes....glasses half full, and mugs...everywhere.

@Allthingsdecember In my experience the skill of using a cleaning cloth effectively takes decades to master!

OhpoorMe · 02/01/2024 19:40

Why is a bagel considered an elaborate lunch?

No not at all. They are 4 girls sharing. One kitchen and then 4 ensuite bedrooms off it.
She said they all stick to the rota and clean up after themselves. No one leaves a pot in the sink like. It's not messy or dirty.
Her room would be immaculate.

Mines back from uni and it's lovely to see him but yup, always cooking and he likes to listen to stuff when he's working where I prefer silence 🤣

@AllIsWellish headphones for Christmas!!

Aria20 · 02/01/2024 19:42

This is brilliant! Mine aren't that old yet - 15 & 12 but they won't eat a bloody sandwich either. It's ramen noodles, pasta, omelettes, maybe some grilled wrap type thing etc also using loads of pans! I know sandwiches are boring but much easier and less washing up!

GellerYeller · 02/01/2024 19:42

@FrillyGoatFluff I feel your pain there. Grater-gate!
And yes, the many, many, water glasses, when they’re already carrying round a Stanley cup from the TikTok shop that DH refers to as the 70s Tupperware thing!
My lunchtime cooking extends at best to cheese toasties/beans on toast, soup, maybe scrambled egg. Nothing that requires a blender/pan of stock, and certainly never a blooming risotto(that will be welded to the pan). 😂

I once found some wrappers from Cadbury chocolate eclairs in the shower cubicle, and it turned out that my middle son had been eating them in the night in bed and they stuck to his body

Oh you can get out! 😁😁😁

have my kids sent you? 🥸

lol. I’m not at liberty to say 😂

Ohyoudodoyou · 02/01/2024 19:44

@AllIsWellish - yes I found a mug in the bathroom too, a Justin Bieber one with teeth whitening moulds in it.....

Doteycat · 02/01/2024 19:45

rochethenut · 02/01/2024 19:41

wow!!

Yep. She's lucky. Plus 2 were already there when she moved in and that was the vibe already. Here's the rota. Here's the cleaning cupboard.
Young women don't seem to like to live in squalor in Germany it seems. I face time her me and I've never seen her bed unmade.
OK. She's the one I'll miss lol.

DS gets a massive variety pack of ramen for his Christmas every year. I bought it one year as a joke but he's requested it every year since. 🙈

This is true- I actually bought The Ramen Queen a pillow and blanket with noodle
Packaging and noodles printed on it for Christmas. She was ecstatic.
I told her it's not edible.

thinktwice36 · 02/01/2024 19:48

I have lost 7 out of my 8 dinner knives in the space of a week, never to be seen again. Until I buy replacements. At which point they’ll be unearthed from under a bed/sofa/pocket/bag.

love them but jeez….

AllIsWellish · 02/01/2024 19:49

Knives and spoons here, I have no idea where they go. I should probably do a deep clean under the sofas and beds 😏

verylongday · 02/01/2024 19:51

I have 3, they have all gone home at last. Much as i love them, they do get on my nerves after a while (24 hours). All the food, lectures about our boring village, life, food you name it.
2 of them are lawyers and when they work at home they work in MY kitchen. When they have a call i have to leave MY kitchen in case i accidentally overhear something and sell it to the tabloids. Im making that bit up but you get the drift. I wouldn't mind but the calls take hours.
