To be concerned about this Instagram email?

I received an email from instagram. It appeared in my email account which I have a really old Instagram account registered to that I no longer use. My Instagram account for this email address is deactivated and not publicly visible.

The email I've received appears to be genuine from Instagram, but for someone else's Instagram account and email address. It is addressed to their email address in the 'to' box, but it has somehow ended up in my inbox?

The content of the email appears to be one of those general account update ones. It says: 'username1, username2, username3 shared new photos. You have 1 new follower'. There is then an 'Open Instagram' button but I haven't clicked it.

The email is from [email protected]

The email is to a stranger's email address I have never heard of, eg: '[email protected]'. There is no cc or bcc visible - my email is not listed anywhere but it has appeared in my inbox.

The email has come into my outlook, when I click on the email address it brings up a suggested LinkedIn account for the person's email. They are from the Netherlands and it appears to be a real person.

Has anyone had anything like this before?! Is this a scam?

Likely a scam and a divert email

If you don't use Instagram any more just ignore it. I can't see why you're giving this any thought at all.
