Blaming FOH staff for errors

This is inspired by a situation I found myself in yesterday... but not about the situation. A service we were using messed up massively.

But what I found shocking was people reactions to it. It was extremely frustrating and annoying. But there were people shouting at the receptionists threatening to call the police for example.
The two receptionists had explained what had gone wrong and every staff member was working flatout to rectify it. The management had not even bothered to show up...

AIBU to think that shouting at FOH staff is unreasonable and counterproductive?

Because people like to be bullies who think it's acceptable to take their anger and frustration out on people who they know can't do anything about it, but it makes them feel better about their sad sad little lives. I work in an industry where our computers will loose connectivity on occasion so we can't process a customers transaction, it is totally out of our hands at it's normal a company wide issue. Try explaining it to customers and I have had people swearing at me, yelling at me, blaming me, telling me I don't know how to do my job, trying to tell me how to actually do my job and generally just being awful.
