Hi all,

Please can I have some advice? If you were a solo, 26yo old woman wanting to move to Manchester. Where would you look at moving to? Some things to consider:

• I'm a teacher so needs to be decent schools around

• I don't necessarily need to be in the middle of Manchester

• I like somewhere with plenty going on but also not keen on mega busy roads with loads of traffic

• somewhere I will feel safe

Thanks so much!

I lived in Chadderton right next to Moston and felt safe. Moston train station is the stop next to Manchester Victoria. Good motorway links also

I also lived on the Middleton side of Chadderton and again, felt very safe

M28 is Salford. Salford is a city in. Greater Manchester. Council tax in Worsley is paid to Salford City council 🙄

Yes I am aware of that, and Salford City Council, like everyone else who wrote to me, used to send my bill to Number X, Any Road, Worsley, Manchester M28 XXX. So people who write their address in that manner are not "refusing to use Salford" they're just using the address that the post office gave them! 🙄

I’m in Stockport and the post office is adamant that our address is “Cheshire” despite the fact that the area ceased to be part of Cheshire in the 70s.
Some people are still adamant that we live in Cheshire though, as it sounds more “naice” than Stockport. I keep reminding them that we pay council tax to Stockport.

Yeah its like when Bolton tries to pretend its still in Lancashire despite having been part of Greater Manchester since the 70,s

Salford quays is not being mentioned for good reason. I wouldn't walk around there on my own at night. Lots of poorly lit paths. V quiet outside the working day. Unlike the other areas being mentioned here. Lots of south manchester is v safe for a women on her own.
