I need advice. I have just got a new job, Manager of a mental health service. I found this jacket in the Next sale and bagged it but couldn't find trousers to match. I loved the jacket though. I'll have lots of professional meetings to attend, but have no idea what to wear the jacket with. Please help.

Surely a bog standard pair of black trousers from just about anywhere would do the job?

Fraaahnces · 30/12/2023 02:11

If you want black work trousers in a variety of styles, I would just go to Uniqlo. They have basics and they wash well.

A much higher cut top with a pair of next trousers or a skirt and opaques. Next should have load in the sale now

Will you be patient facing?

DilemmaDelilah · 30/12/2023 04:05

I think the difficulty is getting the same black. The jacket itself is fairly ordinary. If you can't get trousers in a similar material and colour, then go for a completely different colour and match the colour of the top to the trousers.

Try YouTube for some inspiration, videos such as the one below could be perfect for ideas.

I wouldn’t try to match this blazer with other plain blacks, do you like to wear dresses or skirts for work?
maybe have a look for black/beige with a muted print, or black and white, black/grey or a plain colour but not black.

Also I forgot to say - Congratulations on the new job!

@PressThePlay hi, yes, I'll be patient facing at times, other professional facing such as psychologists, doctors, commissioners and then community professionals.

@Clemmie4 thank you so much. I've really worked my butt off for it.
I wear all sort of clothes, dresses, trousers, doc martens would be my choice of comfy foot wear as well so I'm reassessing that. My whole work wear has always been casual and smart when required.
