We are down to a few bits of chicken and some stuffing which will probably be gone soon in a few sandwiches

plenty of alcohol and chocolates though - which will have to be got through by or donated when I start my diet on January 2nd!!
I try really hard not to over buy but then get given edible/drinkable presents
Quite looking forward to a change from all the rich food so am doing gammon with salad and new potatoes for New Year’s Day

We don't have any leftovers.
There is always chocolate and alcohol in the cupboards here, as they're an all year round thing in my house.
The two leftover pigs in blankets and duck went into the dogs bowl.

TheKeatingFive · 29/12/2023 18:30

Left over pigs in blankets were devoured for breakfast on Boxing day. Turkey and ham pie on Boxing Day. Remaining ham being picked at/put in sandwiches. Brussels fried up and eaten.

The turkey that's left is in the freezer. Ditto any leftover gravy. Turkey bones boiled up for stock, I'll make a soup tomorrow. There is still some stuffing - I'll make that into stuffed bacon rolls probably

SapphosRock · 29/12/2023 18:32

Christmas dinner was 4 days ago, I can't see the leftovers being appealing any more.

We are steadily working through a fridge full of cheese and having Baileys in every coffee.

Zanatdy · 29/12/2023 18:33

i have 1 Turkey leg left and lots of chocolate. What’s left and kids don’t want is going in my work bag for the office as I am starting my diet on 1st Jan, cannot wait as I’m in pain due to a health condition which gives me more pain if I eat too much fat. I weigh more than I have in year, clothes don’t fit. Im quite good at dieting once in the zone and I don’t have many meals out planned for January so going to get on it and start up home work outs again

Kinneddar · 29/12/2023 18:35

You must have massively over cooked to still be eating leftovers 4 days later

Cosyblankets · 29/12/2023 18:36

Portioned and frozen on the day

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 29/12/2023 18:39

We don’t over cook - so have no christmas food leftovers

we do have a insurmountable amount of treat foods and alcohol left however they will get eaten throughout the next coming
months, alcohol will be drank as and when.

1AnotherOne · 29/12/2023 18:39

Put most of the chocolates into cookie dough and froze so they are ready to bake whenever we fancy
Ham will be finished tomorrow. Most of the cheese will go into a macaroni cheese tomorrow too
Have some pastry and sausage meat in the fridge too so will make sausage rolls

DahliaMacNamara · 29/12/2023 18:42

The only real leftovers we had even on the day were a couple of nice bottles of red wine. No thought required.

LostMySocks · 29/12/2023 18:43

Left over veg turned into soup. Deliberately large turkey has made sandwiches to go with the soup, pasta and will shortly be turned into stock for casserole and a chicken soup.

LlynTegid · 29/12/2023 18:43

I'm not, all eaten by Boxing Day, had a small chicken.

curtaintwitcher78 · 29/12/2023 18:43

I thought it was only safe to eat meat up to 3 days later?

Isseywith3witchycats · 29/12/2023 18:44

No meal leftovers here my oldest son took home a christmas dinner doggie tray for him for boxing day lots of goodies in the chocolate biscuit cupboard and will work our way through those in the next few weeks, didnt touch the nice cheeses i bought they are still wrapped up in the fridge and will get to those soon too

Cyllie33 · 29/12/2023 18:44

Ate turkey sandwiches/sprouts/pigs in blankets and cold roasties on Boxing Day. I made a turkey curry on December 27th and am planning a giant mac and cheese with the remains of the cheeseboard tomorrow - both will help stock the freezer. Bought a pack of M&S mince pies for £1 today to use up the brandy butter 😬 Ignore the naysayers OP! Leftovers are a vital part of Christmas lunch for us and I love leftovers cooking!

Onceuponaheartache · 29/12/2023 18:44

We have already done the usual cold mats and pickle.

Dp has turkey curry last night

Left over Turkey is in the freezer and will get cooked up in a stir fry in the next couple of weeks

Biscuits and chocolate will get eaten over the next few weeks or taken into work/gifted to dd's teachers

I have 7 months to lose 2 stone before my wedding

Cyllie33 · 29/12/2023 18:44

Oh and the Stilton from the cheeseboard will go into soup as will any other left over veggies

SharonEllis · 29/12/2023 18:48

We funished up the turkey yesterday in a curry & just had the last of the roast pork with the last of the (amazing) turkey giblet gravy & nearly polished off the homemade cranberry sauce. I roasted veg fresh & we'll have the last of the pudding later this evening. We didn't over cook. We deliberately ordered enough food to keep us going to the end of the week. Which is whole point of christmas food for me!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 29/12/2023 18:48

Uneaten beef and turkey went in the freezer on 27th.

Vegetables went into fry up on Boxing Day.

PIB went into Boxing Day evening buffet . Left overs from that eaten on 27th, a day when DH and I just snacked on leftovers and soup.

A few mince pies have end January date . We always eat cheese. Chocolates will be eaten at any point over the next year (although most unlikely to last anywhere near that long). Same for booze .

We have some unopened pate end date early January - evening snacks or lunch .

Clarinet1 · 29/12/2023 18:50

I have some turkey (from a rolled, stuffed joint) in the freezer. Have finished stuffing, pigs in blankets etc. I do have some cake, mince pies and cheese but don’t anticipate any problem getting through that!

maddiemookins16mum · 29/12/2023 18:51

Leftover gammon was sliced and frozen on Wed morning. Turkey has all gone and I have 3 litres of stock in the freezer.
Veg/stuffing was made into bubble on Boxing Day.

CoatOfArms · 29/12/2023 18:52

There was very little turkey left on Christmas day as we didn't over-cater, we had a crown serving 6 for 5 of us. Stuffing, roast potatoes, mash, vegetables, few pigs in blankets were eaten on boxing day.

WashItTomorrow · 29/12/2023 18:59

We don’t have any leftovers. We used them all up on Boxing Day - basically had Christmas dinner again.

ActuallyChristmas · 29/12/2023 19:04

Carcass picked clean on Boxing Day. Frozen in categories, labelled, listed. Veg likewise, although there wasn’t much. Leftover Xmas pud went in the freezer on the day. Bakery mince pies in freezer ready to defrost to help us finish rum butter etc. Christmas cake, I don’t consider a leftover just something that we eat a slice of until it’s finished. Chocs, biscuits, foodie gifts likewise just gradually get finished. No random boxes of mint chocolates this year. We don’t like them but MIL used to bring them. Thankfully, my colleague loves them so she was happy to take it off my hands

Rainbow1901 · 29/12/2023 19:20

We were out for Christmas Dinner this but were sent home with shed loads of meat and vegetables - the hostess was worried there wouldn't be enough!! Have frozen two portions for Bubble and Squeak and DH has been working his way through the rest. The gammon that we contributed is virtually gone now and the remnants of beef we were given were sliced and frozen in gravy. Baileys cream was generously applied to mince pies!! Near use by date double cream went on a trifle which we'll finish tonight. I don't eat chocolates but we'll leave those out for random ACs and GCs to munch on when they drop by to save DH having to eat them all.

TheKeatingFive · 29/12/2023 19:21

Put most of the chocolates into cookie dough and froze so they are ready to bake whenever we fancy

Why not just eat them at your leisure?
