Lots of Claire/Clare/Claire variants when I was at school ('80s/'90s)..... I think there were three in my class at one stage!

Also seem to remember lots of Louise/Elizabeth as middle names......

Nowadays, definitely see lots of Evie/Eva/Mia/Isla in the upper primary age group.....

I never get the right spelling of Claire! ( when Writing to others)

Just about everyone I know who was born in the 70s has Jane or Louise as their middle name.

Yep, and called Sarah, Elizabeth, Catherine or Claire

Laura Jane
Sarah Louise

(If you were born in the 80s)

I was born in the late 90s and I was very nearly named Sarah Louise. My mum loved it but decided she knew too many people with that exact name to use it. I’m glad as I don’t like it at all.

CosmoChops · 28/12/2023 19:56

Sorry, forgot to add that I agree that I see a lot of Mae (or similar variant) as a middle name nowadays.

So maybe something along the lines of Claire Louise or Claire Elizabeth from my generation, and Evie Mae or similar now.....

caitlinn · 28/12/2023 19:58

Caitlin, I'm nearly 30 and I still hear it being shouted now, in shops, school yard etc, my mum swore it wasn't popular when she had me!

Agreed! My middle name is one of those.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 28/12/2023 20:00

At DCs tiny primary school there are several 4 Olivias, 3 Lily's, 3 Elsies and 2 Zoes!

Brird · 28/12/2023 20:02

For 70s girls from Essex - Tracy, Lisa, Claire, Emma, Mandy. Combined with Jane or Louise as middle name.

Edited

FFS, I even managed to get it wrong in my own post! (AIBU to blame autocorrect?!) Meant to type Claire/Clare/Clair..... I actually really like it as a name, but haven't personally encountered anyone who was named any variation of it since 1980-something.....

Loads of Amy, Sarah, Laura’s growing up. I’m a Melanie and only know of one other growing up.

Now it’s all Olivia, Ellie, Freya, Lily, Amelia’s with middle names of Rose or May.

Wellhellooooodear · 28/12/2023 20:23

Allchangehereagain · 28/12/2023 19:54

My youngest is 4 and every other little girl has Rose for a middle name.

My DD is one of them but her first name is not particularly common

Allchangehereagain · 28/12/2023 23:01

I get why, it’s pretty and timeless

OuiOuiMonAmiJeMappelleLafayette · 28/12/2023 23:08

Mia Rose
Lucy Mae
Amelia Rose
Lillie May

Basically the second part of this quote!

I bet most of them are called after an older relative called May/Mary, since most people who are having babies nowadays have grandparents born around the time those would be “trendy”

Just like my generation all have Elizabeth as our middle names.

StrawberryWater · 28/12/2023 23:24

Middle name wise I see a lot or Mae / May's at the moment. Rose is also popular. A few years ago it was Lou, Louise and Lexi. Before that it was things like Demi.
