Toddler just screeches constantly

DD is 32 months, so not three for a little while. No suggestion of any ND or additional needs, nursery say she’s fine when she’s there.

At home however she screams and screeches at the top of her lungs constantly, whenever she doesn’t get something. She asks for a snack and we say no, it’s screeching none stop. We’ve tried reasoning, ignoring, distracting, separating her (like a mini time out) and agreeing (‘yes it is frustrating when you don’t get a snack’).

I feel like a complete failure as a parent. I know toddlers play up but the reaction of my family over Christmas make me think that we’ve completely failed our daughter by not getting a grip on this.

any tips?

Are you caving and giving in in the end? If she's fine at nursery it's like she knows how to play you.

No, we don’t cave and she just screams and throws things for hours.

Sounds awful! Have you spoken to the health visitor about it?

Is there a reason she can’t have the snack?
Or is it goodies she’s demanding? (DS does this)

What do they do at nursery that is different to what you do? If she throws things, remove the things/put her somewhere where she can't get to things to throw.
