Fake designer items?

In my life I’ve treated myself to four designer handbags and one pair of boots. None of this put me into debt and neither did it prevent me from doing things like nights out, buying a house, travel etc.

I wore one bag out for dinner recently and friend made a comment about how she would never spend so much money on just a bag. Absolutely fine. It holds no appeal to some people.

My issue is that she buys fake designer bags, so she clearly buys into the “status” of perceived wealth.

Fake designer items are often manufactured in sweatshop conditions; there is no virtue in buying them.

She's jealous she can't afford the real thing and you can.

My sister bought my kids fake designer sunglasses - these things don't even meet minimum safety standards and can do a lot of damage to your eyes - annoys me that she brings shit like that into my house. Not a big fan of obvious designer wear - whether it's fake or not, I think it's tacky.
