Hello,

I've posted about my sen son before and how difficult it is but yesterday he said mummy for the first time and today we're both having a lazy day in bed watching a Christmas film and he's actually cuddling up to me .. I have to bribe him with cheese puffs but still I can't believe it.

It's the best Christmas ever!

What's made this Christmas lovely for you?

My adult DD visited unannounced yesterday. I wasn’t expecting to see her, so it was lovely.

Ahh how lovely OP! How old is your little boy?

This Christmas was made special for me because it's the first year that my 2.5 year old has properly understood a little bit about Santa bringing her presents - it's just been magical 🥰

Awh that must have felt amazing! I dream about the day my son speaks, SALT & Senco have said they also believe he will, just in his own time

Everyone was well enough to visit, including my father (who is going through cancer treatments) and my grandfather (who has dementia but who had a particularly good day yesterday).

The DC loved their gifts and even the teenager sat down to play card games and join in. They were super well-behaved, too - my grandfather in particular is sometimes not easy to be around, but they were quiet, calm, respectful, didn’t leave a mess, remembered their manners, helped out without asking, entertained their younger cousins…

It sounds dull and entirely fictional, but it really was a terrific day.

Aw what lovely stories, I'm glad it was a lovely day.

My son's nearly three but he has a genetic condition and we suspect he's autistic. He's non verbal and has very limited understanding and he probably won't say it again as he tends to only say something once and then never again but it makes me think the words are in there and hopefully one day he'll speak but It was just magical hearing it (it would have been any day but gave that extra Christmas magic)

He's not really affection and usually recoils at any physical touch but he had a little cuddle and now is led a couple of inches away from me but I'm taking all I can at the moment!
