Hi and Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you have a happy and lovely Christmas!

Obviously posting in AIBU for traffic, but since it's Christmas day, I hope you can forgive me.

What's your favorite Christmas gift? Mine is a "baby boy" pendant with a tiny diamond from DH, I am pregnant with a baby boy after heart break and loss and books!

Sending unmumsnetty hugs to everyone!Flowers

Most favourite Christmas gift:

The safe arrival of our daughter Elisabeth on December 20th

Second most favourite Christmas gift:

Handbag gifted from my husband. The company is Pure Luxuries London and 59 pounds for a real leather handbag is quite a bargain. I like it a lot! :)

What’s a baby boy pendant OP? Pregnant with my second son and would love to see it if you have a link? My best gift was probably seeing my toddler open his gifts honestly!! Actual gift wise my husband got me some amazing Scottish shortbread!!! And some gorgeous fleeces that fit over my bump! They are so warm and cozy!

Unfortunately I don't have a link as I'm not in the UK! Congrats on your pregnancy

I love both. 😊

A monocular. My binoculars were getting too heavy for one hand, as I now walk with a stick.
It's for my daily forest dog walks, I love it.
My son says I am really a nosy neighbour.

I liked all my gifts but my favourite is Revd Kate Bottleys book and a big bottle of Baileys from DH and DS

sadie93 · 25/12/2023 17:02

I got a couple of Lego flowers sets that I'm so excited about. A succulents one and a bouquet one.

My DP also sourced a box of my favourite crisps in a flavour that's been impossible to get in shops for a few years now but I guess is sold on the company's website. So happy!

Quiregirl · 25/12/2023 17:08

Some extra tough rubber boots for dog walking and a thick pair of gloves for the same - not glamourous but very much needed and appreciated.

Violinist64 · 25/12/2023 17:12

My best present was having my husband and all three of our grown up children round the table for Christmas dinner today as this has not been possible for different reasons for a few years. With material presents l have also been very lucky. My favourites were a new violin case from my husband and, very thoughtfully, a calendar of beautiful photographs of Norfolk, my home county, although I have not lived there for a long time from my older son, who is autistic.

NorthernSpirit · 25/12/2023 17:16

First Christmas married and my husband bought me (amongst other things) a silver photo frame with 2 photos of my dad in (who sadly is no longer with us).

Isthatascratchonmygrandmother · 25/12/2023 17:17

Husband got me some binoculars. Not only the perfect gift as I love bird watching but we had told eachother we weren't getting gifts this Christmas due to a stressful year, but as the old cliche goes we had secretly got for eachother. We exchanged last night at around 1am and we're both delighted we had bought a gift relating to the others hobby.

Amazed how many ladies had Lego as gifts. I'm a Lego fan too so nice to know. I love my Alien perfume.

I had Lego too , sonic and santas visit , very happy me .

SpeedyDrama · 25/12/2023 17:22

My neighbour knocked on my door earlier with home baked cakes. I’ve had a really really shitty few weeks/months, just being thought about by someone else was enough. Only know the neighbours in passing so was genuinely a very lovely surprise.

Gowlbag · 25/12/2023 17:27

This beauty. I can’t decide if I love it or hate it. It was from DS’ girlfriend’s lovely parents so I’ll have to put it somewhere, just not sure where 🤔

Solidarity to any other not very well off single parents reading this thread....

The hand made Scrabble set sounds amazing though, @Frenchyq25 !

psuedocream3 · 25/12/2023 17:29

It sounds like you've had some lovely gifts this year.

My husband has made some odd gifting choices this year regifting things some new some used, one being a perfume I bought myself earlier in the year he found stashed in my bedside cabinet, wrapped it and gave to me... very odd. So I'm going to say the face wipes set which I don't think was a regift and although a bit boring, will probably get used.

Samsonsmum · 25/12/2023 17:31

Edna Everidge wig and glasses which enabled me to do my Christmas Message on Facebook. For reference I gave him a life size plastic skeleton which he loves

FizzyStream · 25/12/2023 17:34

Congrats OP!

I got a massive bottle of my favourite perfume (Flowerbomb) from DH which will hopefully last me until next year!

HollyJollyJingleBells · 25/12/2023 17:35

I got a tin of topped stroopwafels which was an unexpected joy!

DH had given me all my presents early for practical reasons so it was wonderful to get something lovely and frivolous elsewhere
I also got some merino wool socks that are quite wonderful. I will be very glad of those on frosty dog walks

dressedforcomfort · 25/12/2023 17:44

DH is always really good with choosing pressies. Got Nike Waffle trainers, some fab non-fiction books, a cross-stitch kit and a box of Tunnock's tea cakes. Very chuffed with my haul. DS genuinely thrilled with his stuff too. So happy faces all round 😊

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 25/12/2023 17:45

DH bought me a dress from a charity shop (please don't say he's stingy, we both enjoy charity shopping and he knows I would always rather buy, or receive, something from there than new). This could have gone either way as my size fluctuates a bit and I usually say don't buy me clothes without letting me try them on. But he took a chance and it worked out magnificently. It's a very fancy party dress - short, fitted, black and beaded - I didn't actually wear it today as we weren't going out but I tried it on and we both love it.

As for him, he's one of those people who don't want things unless they really need them, and literally the only thing he could think of that he wanted was his favourite chocolates, but one of our DC got him that. So I am paying for him to do a course he's interested in (I did wrap a couple of jokey/practical little presents for this morning). But I wish I could have found something that brought him as much joy as the dress did for me - well, actually I think seeing me in the dress brought him joy too, so that's something.

dressedforcomfort · 25/12/2023 17:46

@SpeedyDrama how thoughtful! What lovely neighbours you have!

I know! Honestly it made me a bit teary, I’ve not had anyone surprise me with something thoughtful for years. If anyone ever thinks something simple isn’t a good gift, believe me sometimes the thought is really all that matters.
