Surrounded by my kids and extended family without the deadbeat Dad anywhere in sight.
Particularly poignant after a horrendously lonely year. Having read so many posts both today and yesterday about useless, pass ag, lazy, nasty ,drunks etc etc , I am counting my blessings .
It may seem smug. That's not my intention. I'm just so bloody grateful to be rid of a shit father to my kids and husband.
There is always a silver lining.

I’m in the same boat! Congrats, op. It’s a relief after so many years of running around after a lazy man child who couldn’t even be bothered to watch his child open presents.

Beezknees · 25/12/2023 10:55

It's very freeing isn't it. I've been single for a long time. Doing Christmas exactly the way I want it with DS, no pressure for "perfection", no useless husband or horrible in laws to contend with.

Testina · 25/12/2023 10:56

Lovely ❤️ pleased for you!

arethereanyleftatall · 25/12/2023 10:59

Yup, same boat here. If ever anyone has a moments doubt whether divorcing a lazy selfish exhusband was the right thing to do, pop over to mumsnet for about twenty seconds at Christmas time. Cheers ladies, enjoy.

traintrax · 25/12/2023 10:59

I had previously read about a mother who had quite possibly organised the whole of Christmas
To be met with pass ag comments about crumbs or some such nonsense. She got rightly upset. He stormed off and now still hasn't returned .
I feel for these women. There is a way. Not easy, ever but it is doable with support and planning . And dont get me started on the horrendous example and role modelling for their kids .
Useless, nasty man.

Well done for getting shot of him. Enjoy!

For me, it's the lack of negativity in our lives. Literally, nothing to

CharlottePimpernel · 25/12/2023 11:02

Me too! No drama. No arguments. Happy child and happy me.
