Am I the only one who struggles watching this film?
I love Christmas films, the cheesier the better! But I find the animation in this one SO difficult to watch. Obviously it's an early 3d animated film, but I just think it's terrible and very distracting!
I really want to like it 🙈
Am I the only one out there? Everyone I know loves it!

I have an irrotational dislike of this film. Love other festive films like Home Alone, Elf etc but it’s a hard pass on The Polar Express for me.

I find this film really hard to watch too and wasn’t sure why. You’re right that it’s probably the weird animation. People all seem to love it though and then act like you’ve kicked their puppy when you admit that you don’t.

I find this film disturbing for some reason.

Plus I don't like Tom Hanks

It's an example of how the Uncanny Valley can cause adults in particular discomfort. The animation looks 'human', but just isn't there. I knew someone who'd researched this!

I hate it. It's disturbing - the animation is creepy and some of the characters (e.g. the ghostly guy on the roof, the drivers) are very unsettling. One of my relative's (now teenage) kids insists on it being on every Christmas Eve, but stops watching after the 'hot chocolate' bit and wanders off, or scrolls phone throughout. I use it as an excuse to walk the dogs (whether they want to go out or not).

None of the characters or motives come across well. The only bit I vaguely like is Santa and the reindeer setting off for the night. But generally I would pay good money to ensure I never had to watch it again.

Not a fan, agree with everyone here. Why not just get the real humans to act instead of making it look as lifelike as possible but with deadened eyes and general offness? Never ‘got’ it. Much rather Home Alone, Elf etc.

Going against the grain but I love it - the little boy, Billy? gets me every time. I'm a teacher and we've all taught a Billy 😔
I don't think it's intended to be a feel good film in the same way as elf or home alone. It is very much supposed to be slightly dark and unsettling as it explores some unchristmassy themes such as poverty but I get that's not what everyone wants from a Christmas film!

Watched it for the first time this week after years of hearing everyone say it’s the Best Christmas Movie Ever.
I found it creepy and boring. Worst Christmas movie ever.

Yes, all the characters, buy particularly the Tom Hanks characters are creepy AF.

Sort of thing that would have given me nightmares as a kid.

Because the background is so quiet

I can't watch it, the whole uncanny valley effect is too strong and it freaks me out!
