Could you manage on that? Petrol etc paid for already, food to last until Tuesday..possibly could stretch to Wednesday/Thursday, then some will need to go on food. We’ve spent a fair amount in food, so will cut right back with simple things after the Christmas
excess. We won’t be paid until the 2nd Jan and just thinking would this be enough for you? We’ve done all the nice outings/activities etc, so will just chill at home/go for walks mainly from now on

Goady.

LividSleep · 23/12/2023 22:01

Well I bloody hope so cos it’s what I’ve got.

Imnotarestaurant · 23/12/2023 22:02

£20 a day is doable

Lifeasiknowitisout · 23/12/2023 22:04

£20 a day with no big expenses.

Yes. Plenty of people do.

What are your options if you can’t do it? For many the people there is no option. They just have to do it.

Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:04

@LividSleep Phew, feel embarrassed for not having saved enough back, impossible though nowadays, everything costs so much 😩

Doggymummar · 23/12/2023 22:05

You get paid in the second of the month? Both of you? That's weird.

Iouis · 23/12/2023 22:11

TheNewSchmoo · 23/12/2023 22:01

Goady.

How?

SnowsFalling · 23/12/2023 22:16

So, you need to do a week of food (you say food sorted until Tuesday), on £200.
For how many? Because it's a VERY expensive food shop with masses of booze if I hit anything close to £200 for 4 of us.

Inextremis · 23/12/2023 22:28

Easily, right now - but that's cos the fridge is heaving with Christmas food, the freezer is full, and DH doesn't need fuel to get to work until the 2nd. We've just topped up the oil tank, and have logs for the log burner. More Christmas booze than is reasonable, and enough dog food to last, too.

I'm sorry if you or anyone else are struggling - if I knew of anyone near me who needed a bit of a hand I'd be only too pleased to share what we have.

Hesma · 23/12/2023 22:29

How many people?

murasaki · 23/12/2023 22:30

Easy given as.dinner gives leftovers for soup , bubble and squeak, toasties etc.

ActDottie · 23/12/2023 22:31

I thought this was going to be a holiday spending money thread! £200 for 10 days when big bills are paid is more than enough!

Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 23/12/2023 22:33

Imnotarestaurant · 23/12/2023 22:02

£20 a day is doable

Why?

Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:36

@Inextremis Yes, same situation, so I’m hoping should be ok

OP posts:
Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:37

@ActDottie That’s reassuring, thank you 🙏

OP posts:
Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:39

@murasaki Yes I was hoping to stretch all the food out a few extra days, plus we will have had such rich, treat type food, it shouldn’t be as bad to move onto simple things like egg on toast, pasta etc after that

OP posts:
Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:39

@Hesma Two adults, one child & a dog (dog has more than enough food at the mo though)

OP posts:
Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 23/12/2023 22:40

Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 23/12/2023 22:33

Why?

Sorry, quoted the wrong post, I meant to ask why on the goady post.

tawitttawoo · 23/12/2023 22:41

TheNewSchmoo · 23/12/2023 22:01

Goady.

🙄

Have you also been offended by the Christmas Food Fridge Photo thread? 🤦‍♀️

Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:41

@Doggymummar We’re abroad and looking at the days it falls, it’s likely it won’t go into the back until the Tuesday, being it’s then a weekend and a holiday on the Monday

OP posts:
Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:42

@TheNewSchmoo In what way??

OP posts:
Gnomegnomegnome · 23/12/2023 22:43

What might you need to buy?

Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:44

@Lifeasiknowitisout There will be no other options, we have to do it too. Just curious if others would find this hard or not, I’ve usually saved back more

OP posts:
Itsabitproblematic · 23/12/2023 22:45

@Gnomegnomegnome Essentials wise, just food after the main Christmas food has gone, we have petrol, dog food, wood etc

OP posts:
RuthW · 23/12/2023 22:47

Is that a typo? Do you mean £20?

Yes I could last ten days on £20.

Lots of people have to last a month on that if it's not a typo.
