Does everyone sleep badly on Xmas eve!

last year my eldest dc was up from 3/4am! Luckily old enough not to wake us
dh was up to 1am sorting gifts under tree stockings etc for kids as they were up late. We were then up at 6!! With excitement

so many people have said similar things! Does anyone sleep well! Maybe no one with small children?

I don't I never have Christmas Eve I'm too excited even before dc, I just love Christmas I'm up every hour from midnight waiting for dc to wake up about 5am

DappledThings · 23/12/2023 20:59

Not back from Midnight Mass till about 1 but fast asleep after that. DC have never woken up earlier on Christmas Day than any other day. Neither did my brother or I as children. My mum says she was up early pacing around trying to wake us up.

I don't. I don't think I did even as a child, though that's half a century ago, so I don't really remember!

idontlikealdi · 23/12/2023 21:35

My kids are early risers, 630 latest. I am always awake before them on Xmas night. I annoy myself.

Kitkatcatflap · 23/12/2023 21:35

Especially Santa

Falalalalaa · 23/12/2023 21:36

I never sleep well and I am ALWAYS awake before the kids.

I have been known to start flushing toilets and closing doors loudly at 7am…

DrCoconut · 23/12/2023 21:39

I'm a poor sleeper anyway. Kids have never been early risers so when it's not school and work we don't rush to get up unless we have an appointment or something. Christmas Day is a relaxed start. Getting to bed on Christmas Eve will be tricky but most nights are so hey Ho.

Fairylightfurore · 23/12/2023 21:47

Yes because the kids won't bloody go to sleep and we stupidly started the stockings in the bedroom tradition! It can be 2am before they aren't waking up when I creep around and then they're up and awake all excited at 5 😭

Icepop79 · 23/12/2023 23:38

Always the first awake on Christmas morning, even when the kids used to wake early. Never sleep well the night before - always too excited to see the kids’ faces when they open their presents!

MondayBags678 · 24/12/2023 13:46

lol I remember waiting over an hour one Xmas for the kids to wake up! Hopefully not this year as they are super excited and already have been waking up early before 6 most days!!!

We’ve told the kids no one is to wake up before 8 and if anyone does , well will add an hour! ( the youngest is 11 and we can never usually get them out of bed!)

cardibach · 24/12/2023 13:51

I don’t know if it’s some sort of body rhythm/habit but I sleep really poorly in Christmas Eve even though DD is 27 and has her own house!

MrsWhites · 24/12/2023 13:53

I’ve slept badly for the last few nights, too many jobs to do going around in my head and I always sleep really badly on Christmas Eve, takes me ages to get to sleep and then I wake every few hours to see if it’s time to wake the kids up!

mumonthehill · 24/12/2023 13:55

I am always up first!! But I love that time, i have a cup of tea, light the fire and look at the stockings awaiting the dc. The quiet before the storm!!
