To ask if you’ve had this awful virus?

Raging temp, shivers, sweats, sore throat, total lack of appetite and nausea if forced.
kids started on Monday and I got it on Wednesday. Started like a regular cold but just gets worse day by day.

It’s got me totally floored in bed. Luckily hubby was working away when we got it so is a few days behind us and not symptomatic yet.

Im on day four now and terrified it’s going to ruin Christmas and put all the lovely food to waste. (Not much is freezable)

if you’ve had it how long did it last? The worst ‘can’t push through’ part.

kids are 2.5 and 3.5 and have been up and down all week. One minute they turn the corner next they’re poorly again x

I had this a couple of weeks ago, but I had vomiting as well. It took about four days of stop-starting for the vomiting and chills to die down. Rest, Lucozade and Diarolyte are my top recommendations! Hope you all feel better soon.

QuestionableMouse · 23/12/2023 08:26

It's covid. It's also bloody awful 🙁

TwentyThreeFifteen · 23/12/2023 08:28

Well yes, but it was actually covid in this house.

CaroleSinger · 23/12/2023 08:29

Have you done a COVID test? You just described the symptoms.

sillyme563 · 23/12/2023 08:30

Almost 2 months later and temperature and general sickness has gone but I still have a sore throat every single day

GreySantaRabbit · 23/12/2023 08:31

We've had it. Not covid though, all tests negative. I went down with it Monday last week (11th December) and today I feel I'm nearly back to normal. Still got a heck of a sore throat and feel extremely tired by the afternoons though.

CandyLeBonBon · 23/12/2023 08:31

Yep. It was Covid.

Tukmgru · 23/12/2023 08:32

Yes, for the past two weeks and only now starting to get back to normal, albeit still very congested. Probably Covid, given how wild of a ride the symptoms were.

Thingamebobwotsit · 23/12/2023 08:33

Yes. Didn't test positive for covid at any point but took 3 months to get better. Thought I kicked it and then it kept coming back.

Strictlymad · 23/12/2023 08:33

We’ve just had it, my and dh ill a week, dd age 5 had a temp of 41, ill about 5 days and ds age 1 and vulnerable (underlying health issues) required a week in hospital, was ill 3 weeks just better now. Covid test negative for him. It’s absolutely horrific

PicaK · 23/12/2023 08:34

It's knocked me out feeling rough for 3 weeks.

Runninghappy · 23/12/2023 08:36

Yes I’ve had it this week and was Covid.

PinkyBlueMe · 23/12/2023 08:36

Very likely covid. We had it - all of 4 of us - some of us tested positive on LFTs and some didn't but all had the same virus. I gather the virus has altered to such an extent that LFTs can miss it.
7 days felt bad, then a long recovery for me (age mid 50s). However, the teenagers shrugged it off quicker - 4 days bad and over it.

User135644 · 23/12/2023 08:38

For everyone saying Covid did you have the booster? Wondering if that helps make it milder.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 23/12/2023 08:40

Just had something like that. Feeling better at 5 days in. But still a little nausea and no appetite. I'm getting by on milk. Think I might put some Bailey's in to be festive.

It's sad about the Christmas food but ime 2 and 3 year olds don't enjoy sit down roast dinners in any case. Hopefully they'll be well enough to enjoy their presents and get cosy with a Christmas film.

Benibidibici · 23/12/2023 08:42

We had somethimg similar. Tested but none of us ever came up positive for covid. Its not always covid, there are tons of nasty viruses out there and always have been.

Thehonestbadger · 23/12/2023 09:05

Multiple tests all negative

we had Covid not that long ago it was either oct or early nov and tested positive it was awful which makes me think it’s a bit soon for Covid again. That took about 7-10 days to shift.

I had Covid last month and had the booster a month before that. I still had awful symptoms sadly, as did my parents.

Doingmybest12 · 23/12/2023 09:28

I had it recently ill properly for 7 days , then felt under the weather for about 2 more weeks. It is horrible. Hope you feel better soon.

BigandBeefy · 23/12/2023 09:29

I was going to say the same as others have. We had it last week, it was covid.

Iam4eels · 23/12/2023 09:36

I had it a few of weeks ago, tested negative for covid on LFT at home and GP tested me too which was also negative but I did test positive for flu. The main strain this season has symptoms like you've described.

I was really ill for around a week then 'cant push through' ill for another week, by week three I could push through then week four (this week) I've been feeling more or less normal if not tired. I still don't have much appetite so I'm not eating proper meals but I'm functioning at least.

LostSocksBrigade · 23/12/2023 09:43

Yes, was negative for covid but it ended up as pneumonia. So now I have pneumonia for Christmas 😞

Megbryan · 23/12/2023 10:02

Get the boosters when you can. People are losing immunity and also long Covid is a bitch.

JMSA · 23/12/2023 10:06

My 22 year old daughter is finally on the mend. NOT Covid. GP sent her to the hospital for suspected pneumonia, but it's influenza. She felt horrendous with it.
