Will you help me name my dog?

I adopted him last week from the rescue centre. I think he’s a lab crossed with a viszla. He’s very tall, about 9 months old. I don’t like the name he came with, he doesn’t respond to it anyway. Here’s some names I like

Rolo
Bertie
Reg

i can’t think of any more!

I have a Rocco, he is fab.

Or a man's name, I like some of the suggestions such as Dave or Noel. Nicky might be quite cute.

Liz1tummypain · 22/12/2023 21:12

Bertie for sure.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 22/12/2023 21:13

*Won't he be used to his original name by now?

What is is so we can choose something nicer but similar sounding?*

I just read something that said dogs dont think of their names as their names per se, but what you call them. So with a new owner, you can change their name with no problems. Which kind of made sense to me.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 22/12/2023 21:17

he looks like a Sid to me. I also liked the suggestion of Simon.

Vanillalime · 22/12/2023 21:17

Another vote for 2 syllable names!

Monty
Winston
Stanley
Caesar
Hector
Reggie

Gary

Anabellie · 22/12/2023 21:25

He’s a very handsome chap with a slightly regal air about him so I think that Montgomery is a good option or, perhaps, Horatio ❤️

educatingrati · 22/12/2023 21:27

Tiberius.

waltzingparrot · 22/12/2023 21:32

Monty or Jasper

Clarinet1 · 22/12/2023 21:41

He’s a Christmas dog so why not Holly? Or Noel? Or name him after one of Santa’s reindeer like Comet or Dasher?

LadyLolaRuben · 22/12/2023 21:47

Hugo, Monty, Bailey, Henry, Otis, Ben

Hes a beauty

NoisyDachshunddd · 22/12/2023 21:49

I’m in camp Bertie out of those names. He looks lovely.

The stealing stuff definitely sounds like a lab and I reckon i can see some Saluki or other coursing dog in there too. Which might also explain the long legs.

Veryirritating · 22/12/2023 21:56

Stanley or Rupert

Oooh he’s gorgeous 😍. It took
us ages to choose a name for our Staffy. I won…. He’s called Buddy x

Hoiz · 22/12/2023 22:05

He’s lovely!

Curlymam88 · 22/12/2023 22:08

Samson. Sammy for short.

GacksonJalaxy · 22/12/2023 22:09

Basil

GameofPhones · 22/12/2023 22:13

Well the Viszla is Hungarian, so you might get some inspiration there (eg Zoltan). I really like Ragnar for reasons I can't explain (it's Scandinavian). He's a beautiful dog who could carry a dignified name.

JamSandle · 22/12/2023 22:13

Rory

TomatoSandwiches · 22/12/2023 22:19

Oh no, he definitely doesn't look like a Gully (wtf?) He looks like an Oscar to me but Bertie is also lovely.

stonkytonk11 · 22/12/2023 22:20

Jingle/Jingles 🎄

Avatartar · 22/12/2023 22:21

Gorgeous pup! He looks like the dog version of Alexander Skarsgard. So how about something like Axel, Erik or Jensen?
