Presents from Santa

Hello all, looking for a bit of clarity/head shaking/pint of gin and tonic...

I've just spent the morning wrapping presents, including for DS(age 3), when DH walks in and asks where his Santa present pile is. Apparently - and I do not remember this conversation - we agreed that presents from Santa would be in his stocking, in different wrapping paper. I've been wrapping presents for the best part of an hour, with each person getting their own wrapping paper pattern.

DH doesn't understand why I'm annoyed with him. AIBU to refuse to take off the wrapping paper of the presents destined for DS's stocking and re-wrap, or should I just suck it up?

My view is that as a 3 year old, DS isn't going to give a hoot who gave him what; maybe next year when he understands more, yes - but not right now.

If they were older than 3, yes, but if you did that today it would be wasteful in time, money and the environment.

But what is stopping this from happening again next year when you again forget the conversation?

I agree it's a pain to re do but if my DH had asked me to do this and I forgot, I would fix it. Imagine if this was the other way around and the mum had organised the presents and the dad just wrapped them willy nilly.

Easy, if he wants it different, he can rewrap them.

A child at 3 wont know any better.

Scarletttulips · 22/12/2023 11:48

It has always been different paper from main gifts.

But at 3 he won’t notice.

Unabletomitigate · 22/12/2023 11:53

He is 3! He is not going to notice/know. It would be a waste of time and effort.
If hubby cares, he can add special ribbon or some such.

Just unwrap the stocking fillers and put them in the stocking unwrapped.
