Can any social workers advise me?

Hello,

Just a quick one, posted on here for a speedy response, not really and AIBU.

My son, early twenties, has a cluster of mental health difficulties, including an eating disorder. I recently contacted a social worker who has not taken my son off their case load, even though he refuses to engage in any needs assessment.

I contacted the SW because I am finding it difficult to cope with my son's ED and his other MH problems. The SW has asked me to put in a safeguarding request, so a formal meeting can commence regarding my son's case.

I have forwarded the SW's message to my son's MH worker, but I really do not know what to expect if I put in the safeguarding request .

Please could someone tell me what might happen once the safeguarding request is processed, and what the purpose of the formal meeting may be. I do want my son to have the help he so desperately needs, but I do not want to open a whole can of worms.
