For thinking that it makes no sense to dress well to be at home?

First of all, sorry for the mistakes, English is not my first language.I been inspired by a previous thread

I have a 6 month old baby and since my last weeks of pregnancy I spend the day and night in my pajamas. On such occasions, when I go with dp or friends to a special place I like wearing makeup and show off a good outfit, but as soon as I get home I put on my pajamas again 🤣
In my daily routines going outside with dc I simply wear sports clothes, but that's the only thing I can tolerate to wear at home.

A friend told me that this can affect your mood, is that true?

How do you all do it to look good at home and feel comfortable?

Can't see myself being ready before dp comes back work 🤣 He doesn't seem to care if I wear makeup or not, although he really appreciate a good outfit. I've a good variety of pajamas that are pretty but not that sexy, It's cold!

I always wear comfy but perfectly respectable clothes at home, plus a little makeup, I do this for myself, it makes me feel ready to face the day

Shame on you.

I also have daytime PJs, sweaters and joggers. I still enjoy putting my PJs on in the evening.

Ehh my partner wears joggers and a hoodie when bumming around the house same as me. Should I have an affair?

Agree with pp shame on you for putting an affair at the feet of the person being cheeted on this. This is not the 1950s i don't stand at the door with martini for my husband. I am an equal partner and have the right to be comfortable in my own home as does my DP

Mumof2NDers · 29/12/2023 19:25

Im off work for 10 days. I haven’t been dressed for the last 3 😀.
Will have to force myself into daytime clothes tomorrow to do a skip run.

Tawlk · 29/12/2023 19:28

I absolutely would never judge anyone on how they like to dress and home that’s 100% up to them, PJs, full glam, naked as long as your comfy and happy. But myself I actually really struggle mentally unless I get dressed for the day, light make up hair down somewhat and clothes on. It gives me a boost for the day. Unless I’m sick of course then I’d probably do PJs all day!

heyheyheyy · 29/12/2023 19:30

I’m really into fashion and feel like I let myself go if I’m always wearing pjs or casual things.

Tawlk · 29/12/2023 19:31

I’m always get strange looks from my buddies who take their bra off when they get home, I hate going braless it’s a really horrible feeling for me, I wear a light sleep bra to bed even! 😂😂

doggiedoodah · 29/12/2023 19:32

My priority when I had my babies was to find that 10 mins after getting up to have a quick shower, hair wash and clean clothes ! If baby had to cry for a few minutes then that would happen occasionally. I just felt my MH had priority for setting me up for the day. I also had to get out every day for my sanity! It worked.😊

Moveoverdarlin · 29/12/2023 19:40

I couldn’t stay in pyjamas all day. I’d feel ill, lazy and depressed. I’d be mortified if someone popped round and I was in bed clothes. Normal clothes can be just as comfy. If I was home all day I’d wear black leggings and a cosy jumper. If someone came to the door or I needed to pop out I’d be able to. Surely getting dressed is the bare minimum of a functioning human? Do you get the children dressed or do they stay in sleepwear all day too?

ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming · 29/12/2023 19:46

I never stay in pjs all day unless I am ill. However, I just wear comfortable clothes at home, or if I go into town or out walking. I think getting dressed in the morning is a good thing, but if you are happy and comfortable in your pjs then that's fine.

Oh do get a grip!!! Incidentally, I don't wear pjs in the day time, but my exDH often does at the weekend. Should I have had an affair because of it when we were still together, or is it only men who can do that?

You sound like you belong in an earlier decade tbh.

shamebook · 29/12/2023 20:44

I sometimes have lazy days and had slipped into the habit of no make-up and casual clothes for work - not client facing so perfectly fine. But I agree with your friend, for me, I do feel better after having made an effort, I even force myself to do it, even on days off, because I know it has a positive effect on my mental health.

Glad to hear that a PP also likes wearing bras, I always wear a bra around the house and feel really uncomfortable without one, like my boobs feel uncomfortable and I'm really aware I have boobs without one on 😆.

I draw the line at relaxing in jeans tho - how do people do that!!

DecorationsDown · 29/12/2023 20:50

I am in my 50s and have never had a ‘pyjama day’. I don’t wear sportswear or loungewear at home either. I don’t care what anyone else wears.

Elaina87 · 29/12/2023 21:15

Welcome to the mum wardrobe. Pyjamas, active wear/ holey leggings. Ignore your friend, who has the time to get dressed up on a daily basis with nowhere to go?!

Cantaloupes · 29/12/2023 21:24

I feel weird in pyjamas all day, so I shower and dress every morning without fail. I go for comfort still: jogging bottoms and leggings rather than tight skinny jeans. I agree with your friend tbh.

1mabon · 29/12/2023 21:31

I'm with you there, and I'm 82. Never have been in pyjamas after getting up.

TheMoth · 29/12/2023 21:40

My house isn't warm enough for pjs all day.
I'm always dressed up for work though, so I tend to go for fleece lined leggings and all the layers at weekends.

hels71 · 29/12/2023 21:42

I have pjs for night time and pjs for day time!! So I " dress" into differ pjs!!

Orcarain · 29/12/2023 22:01

Pyjama camp over here! Unless I have to leave the house, I will happily kick about in an oodie and pyjama bottoms.

if you are feeling fine In your PJs then no one else’s opinion matters!

Flo22 · 29/12/2023 22:07

Men stray if women don't look good. Or go to prostitutes

Victoria3010 · 29/12/2023 22:10

I like a good set of "lounge wear", if I'm feeling posh its from the white company but everywhere has nice versions. Sort of floaty joggers and posh versions of hoodies. It is pyjamas but equally you can do the school run or speak to the postman in them. I got some cashmere joggers from the white company last Christmas as a gift and I still wear them several days a week, great for working from home and I feel a million dollars in them, if anything, it ups my mood! If you feel comfortable and happy, good for you.

mollyfolk · 29/12/2023 22:12

I work from home a lot and I have nice lounge wear and nice joggers that I wear with a soft shirt or cosy jumper and hard bottomed slippers that are like shoes but comfy! Maxi dresses and this comfy Cotten jumpsuit with flip flops in the summer. It makes me feel more productive.

Wow!

You know there is the option to leave if he’s not happy.

He doesn’t have to shag around just because his wife doesn’t dress up and out make up on for him everyday with a baby.

Perhaps your man did but most don’t.
