Too far for us.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/03/2008 18:14

this is the first time that this type of thing has opened close enough to us. i'd love to go to diggerland, but too far.

We have been to Diggerland. Suppose it is fair then.

too far for us as well - are they doing the steam train at al this year?

tortoiseSHELL · 15/03/2008 18:19

oh that looks lovely, must try and take the children!

lucyellensmum · 15/03/2008 18:31

where is it where is it where is it/???

nannynick · 15/03/2008 18:32

I wonder what age/height restrictions will apply for the rides. Some seem aimed at quite old children - such as Cranky's Drop Tower and the roller coaster.

Thomas Land preview illustrations of some of the rides.

It's open already - yay! Planning a trip for ds with his cousins. No doubt will have to re-mortgage to pay for them all to get in, but karmically we are ahead after a lovely couple gave us a free family ticket when Thomas visited the National Railway Museum recently. They'd been given it as a corporate gift and came especially to the NRM to find a family to pass it on to!

davidtennantsmistress · 15/03/2008 18:34

north of birmingham.

has anyone been to the thomas day over the isle of white?

nannynick · 15/03/2008 18:34

ThomasLand is at Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire on the A4091, close to Junctions 9 & 10 of the M42.

there is an article/review of it, here we went on the thomas day out in shropshire, it was lovely!

OP posts:
tortoiseSHELL · 15/03/2008 19:02

Hmm, read the review, was mentally planning the trip till I saw the prices at the bottom - £19 per child over 4, £23 per adult - would make a trip for us cost £84 just to get in...

...think we'll give it a miss.

tortoiseSHELL · 15/03/2008 19:03

Even the cheaper tickets bought in advance would cost £66 for the family. And bear in mind that anyone 12 and over is an adult.

OracleInaCoracle · 15/03/2008 19:06

you can get a discount here its not much, but its a bit off..

i tjought i read they were opening a thomas themed hotel at this place as well, has anyone else heard this or did i imagine it?

OracleInaCoracle · 15/03/2008 19:12

havent heard that, but there are some good B&B's round there.

heres another discount code.

OP posts:
nancy75 · 15/03/2008 19:14

must have imagined it! we live miles away, would be worth going if we can stay in a thomas hotel, but a bit far just for the few rides they have, might as well go to euro disney!

OracleInaCoracle · 15/03/2008 19:18

lol, you could always visit the severn valley railway too! and its the whole theme park including zoo. i remember going when i was 11, it was fab!
