Boiled eggs

NC for this.

I brought two boiled eggs to work yesterday morning, didn't feel like eating them/forgot about them。It is 08:21 I have just sat down at my desk and found them in my top drawer where they have been for 24 hours。Room temp stable about 18C (its a lab)。Would it be reasonable to eat them now?

No

nettie434 · 20/12/2023 00:34

I would have thought it was OK.

MajesticWhine · 20/12/2023 00:35

I would eat them

CoffeeBeansGalore · 20/12/2023 00:35

No wouldn't risk it.

MumChp · 20/12/2023 00:38

Wouldn't eat them.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/12/2023 03:28

Nope. Mind you I wouldn't eat boiled eggs anyway.... They are the devil's food. 😫

GaryLurcher19 · 20/12/2023 03:36

If you're in a lab, does it have a microbiology department? You could take sections* of the eggs and culture them to see if it would be safe for future reference.

*eat the rest now

kinkytoes · 20/12/2023 03:47

Put them out in the garden, foxes will have them.

Pepperama · 20/12/2023 04:27

Hard boiled? Yes. No prob. They don’t need to be in a fridge at all and last weeks.
soft boiled - no way

SweetFemaleAttitude · 20/12/2023 04:31

Bet you're a hit with your colleagues. Why don't you have them with some microwaved kippers.

Mirrormeback · 20/12/2023 04:32

Boiled eggs stink

If I were sitting near you eating a boiled egg I would be involuntarily retching

Think of your colleagues

Melony75 · 20/12/2023 04:33

Yes, with salad cream.

FiveShelties · 20/12/2023 04:39

Do you think you will be identified on MN because you eat boiled eggs?😁

Of all the threads to change your name for!

Exactly what I thought!!

Catsmere · 20/12/2023 06:30

Why on earth did you put them in your desk drawer at all? Don't you have a staff fridge?

Vegetus · 20/12/2023 07:18

I would.

😀

mumda · 20/12/2023 08:05

Nah. They might be absolutely fine but why risk being ill before Christmas.
Unless of course you're stuck working all Christmas.

BlueberryVelvet · 20/12/2023 08:07

Yep they’ll be fine but maybe go outside to peel them lest you fumigate your colleagues.

Hard boiled eggs don’t need to be refrigerated and last weeks.

Duh · 20/12/2023 08:09

Boiled eggs at work! That’s disgusting even if you ate them on time. 🤮

ChristmasFluff · 20/12/2023 08:26

Fridge yes, room temp no, wouldn't risk it. Hard boiled eggs do need to be refrigerated, even in shells, and I'm pretty lax about eating out of date stuff.

Wellhellooooodear · 20/12/2023 08:31

YABU to eat egg in the office!

squishee · 20/12/2023 08:33

In German supermarkets hard-boiled eggs are sold at room (well, supermarket) temp. So I would sniff test and eat then.

TheCurlyKnobhead · 20/12/2023 08:35

Love hard boiled eggs, I have one as a 'snack' between breakfast and lunch most days. Yum
