To change jobs..

Been at my current job 4 months.
It's.. ok. Everyone is pleasant enough, boss is nice. I can't say I enjoy it particularly.

I've been offered another job, exact same role just at another place.

Pros and cons are

It's 75p more an hour with scope for earning more with more training - this is an option at my current place.

In mileage there isn't much in it, but due to traffic where I work now it's a much shorter journey and parking right outside which there isn't where I am now

All registration fees paid - they're not where I am now, we have to fund them.

It might be busier/harder work than my current place of work but I can't say for sure.

They would like me to do 3 days but I said I can only really do 2. They said ok but would I consider more when DC older.

I have to do on call weekends where I am now for only £20 if I am called out.. there is no weekends here.

I feel guilty as I've only just settled in at this job and they have been good to me - is it better the devil you know or should I risk it?

You could use this to try to negotiate a better salary - if they can't beat the new place, go.

It sounded worth it until you mentioned the weekends, do you know how often that would be and what expectations of how quickly you would need to be responsive?

Funkyslippers · 18/12/2023 18:44

I'd definitely leave!

tinseltastic321 · 18/12/2023 18:45

@OddBoots the weekends is at my current job not at this one. I literally have to stay in all weekend, if I don't get called out I don't get paid. If I do, I just get paid £20. It's 2-3 weekends a year.

Oh, sorry I misunderstood. It does sound worth leaving then.

mjf981 · 18/12/2023 19:23

What job/profession is this? Having to give up a whole weekend for potentially no pay is shocking tbh…

Dental nurse
