To throw this recorder in the bin (lighthearted)

Given out as a 'gift' today in school following Xmas party and visit to Santa. Teachers must be laughing their tits off! My ears are still ringing from pick up where literally about 100 kids were blowing into them and parents were just looking at each other shaking their heads resigned to the fact this it until bedtime. This is when it will break (by accident!)/ get lost/ be thrown out/ chewed by the dog (shouldn't have been left lying around)...... delete as appropriate 🤣

Or you could encourage it and this is the beginning of a stratospheric music career. The recorder does (understandably) get a bad rep but there are some phenomenal players out there.

Billybagpuss · 18/12/2023 16:40

However I do think the teachers have played a blinder 😂😂😂

TooMinty · 18/12/2023 16:41

Wow, the kids must have been hard work this term to merit such an evil revenge by the teachers! Our school usually just goes with pumping them full of sugar and e numbers on the last day of term...

Encourage then chances are the novelty will wear off.

APurpleSquirrel · 18/12/2023 19:25

My DCs school took the entire school to a Christmas experience & Santa visit a few weeks ago.
DD got a recorder & DS a harmonica! 🤬

CranfordScones · 18/12/2023 19:37

Book lessons and draw up a practice schedule. That'll end it.

vipersnest1 · 18/12/2023 19:55

Get one yourself and join in - 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'..... Grin

Alarum · 18/12/2023 20:01

I think that’s a disgraceful suggestion. Although DD’s you whistle did somehow go missing. No idea how that happened, obviously.

ShortColdandGrey · 18/12/2023 20:28

My husband put a harmonica in my daughters stocking when she was 3. She drove me mad once she learned to play it, and I accidentally lost it. Last Christmas, a new one found its way into her stocking 😠 I haven't managed to lose it yet 😆

Get a drum kit for yourself. Drown the buggers out

TheSilentSister · 18/12/2023 23:23

I remember those days - my DS would creep up behind me and blast a note into my ear! I was actually amazed that I was able to play a decent rendition of Three Blind Mice still. I accidently lost it not soon after. We both had a laugh the other day when I stumbled across it 'hidden' in an rarely used drawer! DS is 15 now.
I actually forbade my DM from buying him a drum kit. He has absolutely no musical talent. His reports used to say 'stands at the back and bangs the triangle, sometimes at the right moment'. Oh the memories.

SausageChopsBellyFlops · 18/12/2023 23:27

I was clearing out my shed a few months back and stumbled upon 15 years worth of recorders from my multiple children 🤣

I can't stand the noise, most of my kids do play instuments, just not the sodding recorder.

Did you piss off the teacher this year or something? 🤣

BitOutOfPractice · 18/12/2023 23:30

I look back with amazement and admiration at how patiently my mom listened to me play recorder for hours.

it’s a racket!
