To think this could be something serious?

Name changed but long term poster. I want to preface this by saying I'm not usually the type to worry about my health or assume the worst. I usually ignore illnesses and haven't had a doctors appointment for about 4 years. This is really concerning me though.

I've had pain in my shoulder blade for about a month. At first it was just a bit annoying but it's got steadily worse to the point now where it's excruciating most of the time. It's a burning, sharp pain and reminds me of the pain of getting a tattoo over bone. I'm hoping to get a GP appointment for today, but I can't stop thinking the worst. I have two small children so I don't know if that's adding to the anxiety. Am I being ridiculous?

Could it be a frozen shoulder? I've heard people describe it like you have here. Do you have movement in it at all?

Get a gp appointment and see what gp thinks.

Ectopic pregnancy?

SilverAntelope · 18/12/2023 06:49

You need to get it seen so it can be treated. You don't need to power through pain like that. Pain is there to tell you something is up so you need to get it looked at and sorted. It's highly, highly unlikely to be anything serious though.

How are you today @Revelling665 ?

TiptoeTess · 19/12/2023 23:05

Gallstones radiate pain to shoulderblades x

fourelementary · 19/12/2023 23:10

What’s it like when you breathe?

Needhelpsupport · 19/12/2023 23:13

Possibly referred pain from gallbladder, ectopic pregnancy. I hope you saw the DR today.X

SisterHyster · 19/12/2023 23:15

Ectopic pregnancy isn’t shoulder blade pain, it’s shoulder tip pain. And it doesn’t last for a month.

itismytime · 19/12/2023 23:44

Endometriosis
Bursitis
God damn bloody stress

Could be so many things. I hope you are ok OP and all you can do is go to the doctors and go from there
