Illness this year??

I always seem to catch a cold and will typically get 2/3 each winter. (Except 2020)

I take lots of vitamins and eat fairly healthy. This year I had a cold/stomach bug fir two weeks in November followed a week later by this awful head cold and fatigue. Now its literally been another week and I'm sneezing my head off again. So basically in the past 7 weeks I've had 3 different viruses. And we still have quite a bit of winter left.

Is anyone else been the same??

One of my friends has been like this, she hasn’t been completely well since October, she had covid then 2 colds almost back to back. I had covid last month but other than feeling under the weather for a few days, nothing else. Just unlucky I think. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

Yes I've been the same and I don't usually get unwell but have been like you, ill back to back but I didn't have 2 under 5 so that probably doesn't help. Hope you feel better soon! X

Oops *I do

I have a 8 year old and I work with children. But I have worked with children for 20 years! I should have the immunity of a ox

Yes same and it’s knocked me sideways

AutumnCrow · 17/12/2023 07:51

Same here, and it’s weird. I hardly ever go out because of CEV and arthritis, never caught covid, yet I have been felled with cold/flu for 4 weeks now. I have had every vaccination under the sun and antibiotics.

It’s depressing and causing a flare up of the arthritis. What with the jelly legs, I can barely walk around the house.

Must have caught it from family members who help me out.

Yea I've had flu and covid vac this winter.

Yes, and there have been quite a lot of threads about about it too. Getting everything that's going round, finding them a bit tougher than usual, having them linger a bit longer.

Lots of evidence that covid is good at dampening the immune system (other viruses do this, but not as much, or for as long as, covid).

So if we're happy to catch covid a couple of times a year, then this might just be our new normal. Which isn't a great prospect, really.

autienotnaughty · 17/12/2023 13:02

I never caught a thing 2020/2021 (including COVID) which is probably why I'm paying the price.

I'm the opposite. Last 2 winters have been dreadful, this one not too bad. Currently am mildly unwell with a bug that has wiped out my children. Keeping my fingers crossed I don't get worse. This is our first proper illness of this winter as a family.

Is anyone else still finding this even though we are into May?!
