FFS - DH pissed and keeps staggering into the road

As above. DH on his works night out, has called to say he’s lost everyone and he’s walking home as there are no taxi’s. He’s an hour and a half walk away and even while on the phone I heard him staggering and a car horn beeping.

Annoyed but also concerned at him making it home in one piece. Two young kids at home so I can’t go and get him. There’s nothing I can do is there? Wait and hope he arrives back alive?

Clearly not your fault and you shouldn’t be in this situation, but he’s drunk, hours from home and staggering in front of cars. He deserves hell for putting you through this after today, but if you want to guarantee seeing him alive again, I’d get those kids out of bed and pick him up :/

brainworms · 16/12/2023 00:39

Honestly, this is why men shouldn't be let out unsupervised. I hope he gets back in one piece. His hangover tomorrow might teach him, or not.

Onabench · 16/12/2023 00:40

An hour and a half walk? If it was driving distance I’d put the kids in the car and go. Sensible conversations to be had tomorrow

MadamVastra · 16/12/2023 00:41

Come on op get them up and go and get his sorry drunk arse home if only for the sake of the general public!

MadamVastra · 16/12/2023 00:42

Then get up early and slowly pour cold water on his pillow a little at a time then run away

This.

I know he's drunk and that's ultimately his fault but if you can get the kids out of bed and go and collect him then do. They can sleep tomorrow and you just might avoid a member of the public accidentally hurting (or worse) your DH due to his staggering into the road.

You can chat about the behaviour tomorrow when he's sober

sprigatito · 16/12/2023 00:47

Yeah, I'd go and get him, although it might be the last thing I ever did for him. Could you leave the kids with a neighbour? This whole episode will be terrifying for them.

Mummy2mybear · 16/12/2023 00:49

I would put the kids in the car and get him as annoying as it is just the worst having to do that to the children because of his selfish behaviour i would be fuming but if he gets hit by a car situation could end up much worse.

Theimpossiblegirl · 16/12/2023 00:51

I agree. Go and get him with the kids. A man was hit by a car in a similar situation just outside my village. Then read him the riot act tomorrow.

BeadedBubbles · 16/12/2023 00:53

I agree you should put the kids in the car and go and get him. Then he's on childcare duties all weekend!

Lucyintheskywithadiamond · 16/12/2023 01:01

I am sure he will be fine, it will sober him up! Don’t read him the riot act, it is not a crime to have a few too many drinks.

EmmaEmerald · 16/12/2023 01:03

I'd get him in order to spare the poor driver he might traumatise.

MadamVastra · 16/12/2023 10:13

Hi op did you get him?
