Is it mean? Love the names and this is the only reason not to choose them but will they hate us for it when their peers figure it out!?

Can you add a second middle name? They’ll probably just use DC most of the time if they need initials.

SausageChopsBellyFlops · 15/12/2023 13:42

I would add another name in the middle to avoid those initials tbh.

MumChp · 15/12/2023 13:42

Don't.

herbyham · 15/12/2023 13:42

I honestly don't think this is as much of an issue as parents think, I can't remember a time when anyone was made fun of because their initials spelled something funny!

No need to put even more pressure on yourself, if you love the name then go for it

newtovanlife · 15/12/2023 13:43

My mind went straight to disseminated intravascular coagulation and wondered why you'd have such an issue with those initials.... clearly my mind is too pure :D

jemenfous37 · 15/12/2023 13:44

Will be ahead of the curve if they go into medicine

Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a condition in which blood clots form throughout the body, blocking small blood vessels

Haha me too!

WorriedMum231 · 15/12/2023 13:45

Omg you can’t 😂😂

Nevermind 🤦🏻‍♀️ misread 🫠

dullandgrey · 15/12/2023 13:45

Honestly don't see the big deal. Who ever has their initials spelt out like that? My initials make up a word and I don't think I've ever had anyone write it out or comment on it. If you love the names, just use them I say.

Hmmm33 · 15/12/2023 13:46

I didn't even know the middle names of my best friends in school. Why do you think this will be a problem? No one really knows anyone's middle name.

Isthisreasonable · 15/12/2023 13:47

Surely the answer is to order it IDC? If you want D to be the main name you call them, just use D day to day. Know plenty of people who are known by their middle name not their first name.

HardcoreLadyType · 15/12/2023 13:47

Children are mocked and bullied for all sorts of reasons, and none.

You have no way of knowing whether your child will be bullied for that or because they happen to be wearing a red sweater.

But often staff emails etc use initials, so, to be honest, I’d avoid it.

Edited

This is a good idea.

ActDottie · 15/12/2023 13:57

Add a second middle name. I don’t think I’d be happy if my parents gave me those initials.

Elfandwellbeing · 15/12/2023 13:57

Don’t, as kids get older and learn to spell their own names it will be embarrassing! My kids wrote the initials on all sorts as youngsters I would not like to see DIC everywhere 😂

HollaHolla · 15/12/2023 13:59

Meh. My sister is PUS. Wasn’t. But changed her name upon marriage. We ask her why? 🤣
But yeah. I’d add another middle name. But my brother is GAA. Which was only picked up as amusing when he went to Uni, and had lots of friends from Ireland.

DragonMama3 · 15/12/2023 17:16

I wouldn't.

MissBuffyAnneSummers · 15/12/2023 17:19

Who ever knows anyone else's initials. I only know those of close relatives.

Non issue.

TrishTrix · 15/12/2023 17:25

Not sure people fuss.

I have a former colleagues whose initials were BTW. It always made me smile but no-one else ever noticed!

My own initials spell a traditionally male name. It's caused some fun over the years - I was put into the "boys" accommodation in my first job but was actually very happy with my flatmates and given my proclivity at the time for leaving damp windsurfing gear in the shower which complimented the mountain biking gear and scuba diving kit of the others I think it was probably the best outcome all round. Not sure my female colleagues would have been so understanding.

greencheetah · 15/12/2023 17:32

I wouldn’t

Pineappleshakethetree · 15/12/2023 17:33

Add Keith or Katie at the end.
😉🤣

MrsOnions0 · 15/12/2023 17:35

I first thought Death in Custody- appreciate that’s niche and work related

wite · 15/12/2023 17:36

At our school they have their initials on their PE kit. I wouldn't chose to call one of mine DIC

PostmansKnock · 15/12/2023 17:36

At my DD's secondary and her sixth form their email address has been their initials and then the year they started.

So DIC2023@
