Doing anything embarrassing when you thought nobody else was around or looking ?
My DH annoyed me today and I thought he had gone out so I was ranting out loud . Then heard him come up the stairs as he had forgotten something. He heard something but not the exact words and said “You alright ? Who you chatting to?” I just made out I was annoyed with my phone freezing on me !

As a teen my mum walked in on me dancing which was very embarrassing for a young girl although could have been worse !

I think you are a little bit easily embarrassed! Those two examples would not raise an eyebrow in my world!

BeneathTheSurface · 14/12/2023 15:53

I was really ranting about him though , sounded more than a bit deranged as I was so angry !!

I often talk out loud in various accents when I'm home lone. Sometimes I'm pretending I'm having a job interview, sometimes I'm dictating an article, sometimes I'm on a chat panel, sometimes accepting an award etc.

The first time DH caught me was back when we were dating and I hadn't known he'd come in (I think I was in the shower). I only realised he were there when I heard him burst out in laughter. Now he joins in in his own (equally awful) accent attempts.

Squeaky2023 · 14/12/2023 16:22

I saw a dog and just came out with, "Hellooo!" to greet it. Of course its owner appeared. Why would I even do this? A dog is always going to have a person with them!

I love this.

Got caught by my sister shagging. I'd say we are both equally traumatised by the experience. But, we survived (and never spoke of it again. Fair play to her!)

CharlotteBog · 14/12/2023 16:28

My mum found me playing with my little sister's Barbie dream house when I was about 12 or 13. I so desperately wanted to have my imagination back.
She didn't mock me, just said it was nice. I love her for that (miss you Mum).

I do this all the time. Then I tell the owner, if they appear amenable, what a good boy/girl the dog is. Smiles and tail-wags all round.

DP has frequently caught me standing in front of the fridge absent-mindedly hacking at the cheese and shoving it into my mouth. I don't have that much shame about this though.

Shiningout · 14/12/2023 16:46

I remember being caught singing Celine Dion my heart will go on as a teenager, back in my moody goth phase where I'd listen to music that made the walls shake. I still feel the embarrassment thinking about it 15 years later 😂😂

Gloriousgardener11 · 14/12/2023 16:50

In the staff toilets at work.
I was busting for a wee but let out a fart at the same time and just cringed when I heard someone stifle a laugh in the next cubicle.
I stayed locked in for an unreasonable amount of time so they didn’t know it was me .

HelpMeHelpTheKids · 14/12/2023 16:58

My exH found my smutty fanfiction on the computer. He was totally unphased but I nearly died of embarrassment. I'm a decent writer but sex is impossible to write well, especially when it involves Doctor Who Blush

SnappyDragony · 14/12/2023 17:05

When I was 12 or so my mum caught me cooking dinner pretending that I was on a cooking show and narrating what I was doing out loud. I still do it just in my head.

BeneathTheSurface · 14/12/2023 17:09

Love these! Keep them coming.

Just thought of another one which makes me cringe a lot. I had a crush on a teacher as a teenager and for some reason I wrote out the conversation on paper (A very mundane and boring one). My sister was with me at the time as it was at the end of the school day. Said sister found the note a few days later and asked me why I had wrote it all down! I can’t remember what I said but she seemed to accept it or was trying to spare me further embarrassment!

At work we have a bakery at the top of a narrow passageway which looks over the yard at the back of the shop...
I always have my music playing. One morning I Will Survive came on... I carefully looked into the yard and seeing no one was there I belted the song out at full volume.
Just as I finished I heard one of the chiller doors in the passageway click. When I looked out my manager was standing there grinning... He had heard every word!!! 😝

I always say hello to dogs regardless if anyone is with them

When I was about 13 I was doing a full on choral rendition of Once in Royal David City in the mirror, I couldn't tell you why. The next thing I know my older sister and her boyfriend come into the room clapping and laughing their heads off. Nearly died on the spot.

Oh God, you've reminded me of the story I wrote in English class when I was about 14/15 that was read and marked by the teacher. The main character was a thinly veiled version of me and the love interest was so very, very obviously my history teacher 😫

EvilElsa · 14/12/2023 17:27

I got caught giving my boyfriend a blow job when I was 16 -by my mum. Absolutely horrific and I still feel sick thinking of it. She said nothing and shut the door, we never spoke a word about it.

Jaboody · 14/12/2023 17:28

My older sister found my dildo.

ValBiro · 14/12/2023 17:29

I mean the sex ones are embarrassing... The other stuff is totally normal day-to-day stuff for me, the singing and talking to myself and dancing and talking to animals... Perhaps o have a low threshold for embarrassment!

This would be the David Tennant version??

Goodlard · 14/12/2023 17:45

Oh @HelpMeHelpTheKids bless you!! That's so funny.

HelpMeHelpTheKids · 14/12/2023 17:46

@Poufpastry I can't honestly remember, but I think there were multiple versions 🙈

AliceMcK · 14/12/2023 17:47

First year of high school I had gone back to school for an evening performance for some thing, the school was pretty empty as I’d gotten there early as I lived out of town and was limited in bus times. I was on stage and the hall was completely empty I started singing on the microphone, I can’t remember the song but I think 80s ballard, it was 1987… Anyway when I finished there was a boy for 5th year (year 11 now) clapping, I was mortified, I was a shy 11 yo and absolutely and totally tone deaf, still am 🫣

CharlotteStreetW1 · 14/12/2023 18:04

Many years ago I was being Sheena Easton (that's how long ago) singing 9 to 5 with a hairbrush and when I finished I got a rousing round of applause from the neighbours as my blind had been closed but it turned out the window had been wide open 😳
