AIBU to think Die Hard is a Christmas movie, and to have enjoyed watching it for the umpteenth time?

DH was out last night, so I watched one of my favourite Christmas movies, Die Hard. I've always liked this film, and consider it to be a Christmas film so usually try to watch it during the run up to Christmas.

DH arrived home before it finished, and couldn't believe I was watching it again. He also says it is not a Christmas movie.

AIBU to enjoy watching this film once a year, and to think it definitely is a Christmas movie?

Definitely a Christmas film. But one which can be enjoyed any time of the year.

I'm so with you in this! I really like the fact that the good guys win the end and leaves me feeling pretty happy. 🌹

Die Hard is absolutely a Christmas film. I will be doing my wrapping watching it and also Miracle on 34th Street. I do it every year. Both very festive in very different ways 😄

I also like the Mrs Miracle films. 🌹

I watched this for the first time yesterday. I quite enjoyed it, and it was a bit of a laff counting up the number of times Bruce Willis miraculously survived an event that would clearly mean certain death, but it's definitely not a Christmas film.

The action takes place on Christmas eve, at a Christmas Party.

The main character is only there because he has flown across the country to be with his family for Christmas.

Christmas music features repeatedly.

Christmas traditions including presents, stockings, chestnuts roasting on an open fire are all mentioned. I think Christmas is referenced by every major character at least once.

One of the baddies delivers a speech that begins with "Twas the night before Christmas..."

Bruce Willis wraps a dead body in Christmas lights, puts a santa hat on it and writes "now I have a machine gun ho-ho-ho" on the shirt. Dark, but definitely Christmassy.

Ultimately at the end of the film evil is defeated and an estranged family is brought back together just in time for Christmas.

Those saying it isn't a Christmas film, I'm curious to know what does make a Christmas film in your view if not the events of the film taking place at Christmas, with Christmas being central to the plot, characters making frequent references to Christmas and Christmas traditions, and Christmas music scattered throughout?
