To not feel Christmassy yet?

I'm going through a bit of a rough patch with DP due to his mental health, as well as another family issue. One DC is unwell, I can't be bothered to wrap anything and to top it off, the DC will be with their dad in Christmas Day so I won't have them until Boxing Day. Christmas is usually my favourite time of year and I normally start feeling Christmassy late November but right now I don't feel anything, nor am I looking forward to it Sad aibu? Does anyone else feel the same way?

I’ve just written exactly the same thing on another thread. Too many expectations on one day.

YANBU. We put so much pressure on Christmas to be a certain way, for us to feel the things we always feel, for it to look the way it always looks etc, but that's not always possible and it's fine if you're not feeling it this year. Flowers Try not to put any expectation on yourself.

Yes. Same here.

I always feel like this! It's a lot of effort. I quite like buying presents in a way but I'm not very good at organising them, wrapping is usually Christmas Eve despite intentions otherwise every time! I love the day with family etc but..
a couple of years we've not even put a tree up. Maybe this year we will!! I've got a rattan reindeer with tinsel on in the porch so the rest of the world might think we're in the mood but that's about it.

Same here and I can’t put my finger on why I feel differently this year. Everything just feels like a chore unfortunately.

MagnoliatheMagnificent · 14/12/2023 07:37

My birthday is near to Christmas too which doesn't help. I feel a bit like it's not allowed to be Christmas until I've had my birthday - which isn't very practical!

judgedreadful · 14/12/2023 07:39

The build up to Christmas is better than the day.

FutureUncertain · 14/12/2023 07:40

Yep.

No gifts wrapped. Facing a loved ones last Christmas and we are currently feeling so poorly with Covid we can hardly stand up, let alone get the decorations out of the loft!

I have people coming for Christmas dinner and I’ve just added pre prepared cauliflower cheese and frozen parsnips to my shopping basket, that’s how unChristmassy I am!

hellsBells246 · 14/12/2023 07:59

Same. My mum's ill and I'm not looking forward to Christmas. My dc are older too, so more pragmatic about Christmas.
