To think work should have asked?

Another work post guys sorry 😂

I'm a home carer and I work in a certain area in my town so I have all the same clients, I've worked there just over a year and always been in that one area, I'm training up a new start and she's getting my shifts in my area and I'm getting moved to another area so completely new clients. I'm quite upset as I love all my usual clients and have obviously formed a close bond with them all and I'll be heartbroken to not work with them 😢. They didn't even tell me I had to ask after the new start told me she will be working in my area.

AIBU to think they should have told me at least? Instead of just changing my rota for next week to a new area.

Partner thinks I need to find a new job as this will keep happening.

Care agencies are the worst when it comes to common sense decisions and considerations for staff and clients. I worked as a carer to support myself through uni. Loved the job but hated the office. Despite having dozens of clients on my doorstep, they never allocated them to me except for when I picked extra shifts. Instead they would send me to another end of town on my first and last visit which meant two hours of unpaid travel.
My colleague who lived in that area had to do the reverse journey to cover clients next to my house. No reason for it except poor management and lack of care for staff.
I am not convinced a different agency is going to be any better. If I were you, I would be looking to move to a residential or get job as an HCA.

They should have. Aside from anything else they have a duty of care to you to prevent work-related stress - discussing a change to your role should have been part of that.

It's also really horrible for your clients to be treated like that.

Omg I had to check that I didn't post this myself. The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. The new start told the clients she was doing my run. I had to call my organiser to check. She made out ot was rubbish but I know she gave my run to the new carer.
