Nursery report for preschoolers

I received an end of year report for my DS, he's nearly 4.

Generally quite positive.

There's an emerging / expected / exceeding column.

Would it be unreasonable to ask what exactly he would need to be able to do to meet all of the ' expected ' things ? Most of the report is in the ' expected ' column, but there are a couple in the emerging column.

But it's quite vague. It just says 'number ' or ' writing '..

He's at a nursery that's part of a prep school.

No, YWNBU to email the school. I'm sure they'd be happy to explain.

Each description will be what’s expected at a certain age although some kids will be quicker or slower at reaching certain behaviour markers. There is usually a key explaining the descriptors included somewhere. If not nursery can provide one.
