Vinted returns?

Hello. After some advice please. I sold a clothing item on Vinted last week, barely used expensive sports brand. Sold for significantly less than the item cost and similar price to other sellers with the same item on Vinted. Very excited to have sold this as very skint atm. Went to considerable effort to get them despatched on the same day (had to try several drop off points) as the buyer wanted them asap.
they’ve now been received but the buyer isn’t happy as they don’t like the item and now want a refund.
has anyone experienced this and how did you manage this?

You don't have to accept a return because they don't like the item. Indeed if it doesn't fit it's hard luck as well for the buyer. They can sell it on. Vinted will side with you on this one.

You’re not a shop, it’s not faulty, so no

It's tough. I just sell my own vinted mistakes again.

Senmum2013 · 13/12/2023 13:25

@Sauvblanctime that was my thought exactly.
I only buy low cost things on Vinted (bought some books for my son which still haven’t arrived) and tbh whilst I’ve seen a few items I’d like I’ve not committed as not sure if they’ll fit me then I’m stuck with something I can’t use.
I’ve not acknowledged the buyers messages as cba atm.

If it doesn’t suit them / fit they can sell it on.

Vinted will side with you on this anyway

If the buyer wants to return an item because they don't like it/it doesn't fit etc they have to pay the postage to send it back to you. It's usually cheaper and less hassle for the buyer to relist the item themselves. I'd tell her to do that. There will be no comeback from Vinted. She can leave you a bad review but you can respond with your version of events.

Have they just changed their minds or are they saying that it's not as described?

Senmum2013 · 13/12/2023 13:50

@ginoohginoginelli They’ve said that the person they bought them for doesn’t like the item because they are used too much.

If they suspend the transaction saying it's significantly not as described then vinted will make you accept the return. Select the option for them to pay the cost of return postage, so you're only out of pocket the cost of the item. If they're just messaging saying the don't like it or it doesn't fit then you're under no obligation to take it back.

oneflewoverthe · 13/12/2023 14:34

That's their problem. I'm forever selling on stuff that I already bought from Vinted. That's the risk with buying second hand. Hopefully Vinted side with you and you have the char history
