Jbrown76 · 12/12/2023 10:00

Just received a oodie dressing down, arrived late and what arrived was thin, creased, poor shape..i emailed weeks ago, no reply, other orders are outstanding, no idea when I'll receive them and now I have emailed customer service to request a return, they probably won't reply until the new year. I'm not joking or over exaggerating, this was supper to be buttery soft, thick and cost just like the hoodies. It was thin. I'm.juat ranting.

No, bought from the oodie website, the dressing gown says made in China, that's where oodies are made

I don't think there is such a thing a real and knockoff for Oodies, and the product was around for years before it was called an Oodie. I got a really good quality one from a small British company on Not on the High Street years ago. I'd never heard of Oodies until this year.

You’ve got that the wrong way round. The company https://theoodie.co.uk/?nbt=nb%3Aadwords%3Ax%3A20660900574%3A%3A&nb_adtype=&nb_kwd=&nb_ti=&nb_mi=&nb_pc=&nb_pi=&nb_ppi=&nb_placement=&nb_li_ms=&nb_lp_ms=&nb_fii=&nb_ap=&nb_mt=&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8Oii0d-JgwMVNZVQBh15JQmCEAAYASAAEgJwWPD_BwE

was first and then people have been copying them.

Not all are ‘fake’. It’s like Hoover becoming used as a word for vacuum. If you type in ‘Hoover’ to a search engine you get lots of vacuum cleaner results which is fine. But if you found a whole site for branded ‘Hoover’ that was selling knockoffs then you’d be annoyed.

ActDottie · 12/12/2023 11:05

Is it an actual Oodie or a knock off? My Oodie is really thick and good quality and definitely not creased - not sure it can even crease as it’s just Sherpa fleece.

undercoverhero74 · 12/12/2023 11:05

I have an Oodie dressing gown and an Oodie hoodie. The dressing gown is far thinner and lightweight however is deceivingly warm. I now favour the dressing gown and wouldn't be without it. When it first arrived tho I was a bit disappointed as it is significantly different to the classic Oodie that I had been used to.

Jbrown76 · 12/12/2023 11:07

designed in Australia but made by the Davie Clothing Pty Ltd Made in China, this is shown on the fabric labels inside the Oodie...

Yes, but in my view the Oodie company has just jumped on the bandwagon of a product that already existed, and it is not in itself a reliable marker of quality.

Well, yes, an Oodie is "just" a hooded blanket poncho thing, of which there are many different varieties. Welcome to the world of brands.

But also, they're good. They make a high quality product. They are "the top rated wearable blanket company in the world." The Oodie brand is exactly a reliable marker of quality.

Jbrown76 · 12/12/2023 10:01

Oh and it came straight from Heathrow airport, because it had been shipped straight from China no so quality control/checks

Are you sure you have ordered from the real website and not one of the fake ones?

I clicked on an Instagram advert the other day that was a REALLY good fake, I really thought I was buying directly from Oodie but something made me double check and err, no, it was one of the fake sites made to look like them.

I bought an oodie last year for dd and it was horrible. The white stuff which is the lining choked me as I opened the package. When I washed the thing, the white lining went all over the washing machine. And it still choked me as I hung it up afterwards. We binned it. Couldn't see how to make any use of it without being choked by the white lining that just kept coming off into the air and onto anything it touched.

It was a minions one bought direct from oodie.

Never again!

Why didn't you send it back? It's faulty.

I sincerely doubt they have a patent or design right to prevent copying of the design or can prove that they were first. It's an item of clothing, nothing like designing a vacuum cleaner.

MonsteraMama · 12/12/2023 11:12

Yes they're manufactured in China but they don't ship direct from there. They'll be shipped to the UK (or whichever country) distribution centre which will then ship it to you - that's how it was with mine anyway. Are you positive you've bought from the Oodie website?

CornishPorsche · 12/12/2023 11:16

This is the labelling in my Oodie dressing gown. It's been washed a few times do the labels are faded.

I wear it over clothing like a housecoat for WFH.

Just because you'd never heard of them doesn't mean they didn't exist 🤣. The brand Oodie is the benchmark...amd NOTHS are not a small company, they sell shit they've bought from China

I’m sure they don’t have a patent, but equally you can’t label something as Marks and Spencer’s if it’s not!

CornishPorsche · 12/12/2023 11:25

@JamieKnows NOTH don't sell a thing themselves. It's a platform for sellers, just like Ebay.

CatamaranViper · 12/12/2023 11:29

My Oodie is my favourite thing ever. It's super think, no choking on white stuff (??), not thin, doesn't fall apart, very warm, very soft...

AppaTheSixLeggedFlyingBison · 12/12/2023 11:30

You emailed weeks ago but the screenshot says you ordered on the 5th December?

And standard shipping is up to 8 working days after dispatch. Which takes up to 3 days. Odd.

User2856948 · 12/12/2023 11:33

You only ordered it a week ago and it arrived now, that's perfectly acceptable and normal unless you specified next day delivery

No, of course not.

M&S do quite a good one, by the by, if you don't want to wait for something to come from Australia or China. Click and collect usually next day, and very easy to return.

Which dressing gown did you order? I’m waiting on a Winnie the Pooh one and debating cancelling…

TellingBone · 12/12/2023 11:43

I've got an 'oodie' bought from British Home Stores around 2007. Still wear it. 😄

RiverCartwright · 12/12/2023 11:45

Must admit I was disappointed.

Adult DD has been eyeing up the travel Oodie so I got bought one at the start of November, before Black Friday as they were already reduced to thirty something pounds. It finally turned up last week after many questions as to its whereabouts. One of the features of the travel Oodie is an inflatable neck pillow and it advises to take it out of the vacuum bag for a few hours before using, so I opened it so she could try it on Christmas day. I was surprised how thin it was.
I bought us both a hoodie blanket from Online Home Shop last year. I paid £20 each. They seem twice as thick and much much heavier than the Oodie thats arrived.

Whether the travel one is designed thinner I don't know, but I think I'd be loathe to order a standard one based on the quality of the travel one.

ManateeFair · 12/12/2023 11:47

They don't ship direct to the UK from China - if you buy from the legit website they send by Royal Mail or Yodel/Evri and they come from warehouses in the UK. Basically you've bought a fake I think.

I don't think there is such a thing a real and knockoff for Oodies, and the product was around for years before it was called an Oodie

Oodie is a brand name. An Oodie is a specific brand of that item. So yes, you can buy a similar garment from other shops, and that's perfectly legal and fine. But they cannot be sold under the same 'Oodie'. If it's labelled 'Oodie' but isn't actually made/sold by Oodie, it is therefore fake.

Saying that 'There's no such thing as real and knockoff for Oodies' because you've seen similar products in M&S or Primark is like saying 'There's no such thing as real and knockoff for Levi's' because you've seen M&S or Primark selling jeans, or 'There's no such thing as real and knockoff for Ray-Bans' because sunglasses existed before they brought out the Wayfarers.

Discwriter · 12/12/2023 11:47

I bought an Oodie in their sale. It's so thick and warm compared to our other fake oodies from M&S etc, I actually gave mine to DH as it is too warm for me. Send it back if it's not right OP.

Sharedcupboard · 12/12/2023 11:53

I suspect you’ve used a very close but fake website OP. They don’t ship to customers from abroad. They ship from the UK.
