Bizarre spin class

Had a substitute spin instructor this morning and it was the most bizarre class ever. Instructor walks in, addresses class in perfectly normal local accent. As soon as the class starts she begins speaking in an American accent with lots of WOOOOs and singing to the music down the microphone. Just why? Very off-putting.

Can I just be impressed you did a spin class on a Sunday morning? I am currently nursing a Christmas party hangover feeling proud that I managed to get washed and dressed.

Is it possible she was an American using a fake English accent for the intro and then defaulted to her regular accent as she began to teach?

She's probably just copying spin instructor videos she has watched online. To be fair I think a spin class would be weird if the instructor was terribly British about the whole thing.

Yeah she’s probably trying to recreate Peloton or Soul Cycle or something.

I feel embarrassed for her - but in fairness she sounds very enthusiastic, and I like that.

Well at least the foibles and character of the new instructor gave you something to think about while you exerted yourself! That is a bonus.

Some people like that type of thing, there’s lots of peloton classes with that type of vibe.

Can’t stand any exercise classes with lots of whoops and yeahs that you can barely hear over the deafening music.

I found an excellent spin class where the instructor plays some really random stuff. We had Bat out of Hell and Artic Monkeys the other week.

My normal instructor is a middle aged guy and he's awesome. Not a whoop in sight.
