M & S Toilets gross

I live in Shropshire and the toilets in the M&Ss I go to are rank and have been for a long time (Shrewsbury and Telford). The toilets smell vile, there are out of order toilets and cracked/empty soap dispensers. Is this a local thing or is it a more widespread phenomenon with M&S?

They're fine where I am, in fact they're lovely and well maintained. Have you put a complaint to the store?

Didimum · 10/12/2023 09:27

Just complain to the store.

Nitgel · 10/12/2023 09:27

Same at the giant St albans superstore. Awful.

Nitgel · 10/12/2023 09:28

Oxford St marginally better. ;)

DonnaBanana · 10/12/2023 09:29

Maybe the staff who are meant to clean them are complaining about being stressed and micromanaged when a manager tells them to sort them out

Downtoyou · 10/12/2023 09:31

It's the same in the Salisbury branch, always a funky smell and they are in need of refurbishment

cerisepanther73 · 10/12/2023 09:33

I went to toilets in Swansea they seemed in good clean condition,
i rarely vist M&S myself though so it was very much novelty Christmas thing browsing at stuff in that store with a friend.

CantStandMeow · 10/12/2023 09:34

I think there must be a specific cleaning product that certain stores use. The toilets in IKEA, M&S and Asda all had that specific gross smell. Didn't matter if they had just been cleaned or were due, it was very distinctive. I'm not sure if it's the combination of that cleaning product, bodily functions and the nappy and sanitary bins but I always noticed it. Thankfully way past the nipping into every public loo with small DC stage!

LouMorris · 10/12/2023 09:35

Meadowhall ones are the same

Agree! Was just about to say this, they look so out of place, quite a nice store then you go to use the toilet and it's like going into another world!

My dd said 'I expected M&S toilets to be posh but they're manky!'

Hermanfromguesswho · 10/12/2023 09:56

The Ipswich ones are disgusting. Worst toilets in town!

MandSx · 10/12/2023 09:57

I have just messaged M&S via Facebook Messenger to complain about the state of the M&S Shrewsbury toilets, visited yesterday and which were utterly rank!

I’ve visited two lately, 50 miles apart, and they were both pretty bad 🤮

MandSx · 10/12/2023 10:00

In the M&S toilets I go in, I feel that the smell is caused by the unemptied bin for used nappies. The smell is very bad indeed.

The ones in Manchester always look clean but always smell of 💩

Shopper727 · 10/12/2023 10:02

Our toilets were like that too and smelled damp/nasty really horrible they were refurbished a year or so ago and much better I go to them as the shopping centre ones are downstairs so hard with my bad knees lol 😂 only thing I don’t like is cold hand dryers they make my hands chilly 🥶 when it’s cold

OldTinHat · 10/12/2023 10:41

Last time I used toilets in M&S, the hand dryer went BANG and covered me in black soot!

Crispyturtle · 10/12/2023 10:48

The Exeter ones are lovely, never noticed any smell & always clean.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 10/12/2023 11:14

All the M and S stores here have spotless toilets. Sainsbury’s however…🤢
