Wonder if anyone can share their thoughts please.

We live in the Midlands with 2 kids - 13 and 9 anf are thinking of moving to near London ( commutable ) when eldest has finished college ( so about 5 years time)

my reasons for wanting to are that the children can go to uni / school in or near London. They would get to experience all it has to offer. There are a lot more opportunities there than the Midlands , I feel that you also get to meet more open minded people ?

I would also be better for my career to work in London

Can anyone share their expand thoughts please as I am seriously considering but maybe I’m wrong?

It’d be weird and bad for DC2 to disrupt their schooling at age 14 or even 16. DC seem unlikely to benefit from the move. If they want to study or work in London themselves they can do that when adults.

You don’t need to live near London to go to uni there.

What if what they want to study offers the best course in, say, Exeter or Glasgow?

If you can afford London then do it! Way better lifestyle than the midlands. Much more liberal and diverse and much more to do. I’d take a smaller place in London over a palace in the midlands every time.
