Calling out the collagen merchants

Yet another article, this time on here, extolling the virtues of collagen - but it has the same nutritional composition as much-cheaper gelatine which is also sourced from animal bones etc. Is there someone out there qualified to tell us whether a bit of gelatine would be just as good for our skin, nails and bones as much more expensive collagen supplements?

There's no concrete evidence that collagen supplements of any price point are good for you or make any difference whatsoever

I don't know about specific collagen products - surely just broken down into amino acids like any other protein.

But I do know that since I have ramped up my protein consumption for muscle growth/weight training, my hair and nails grow so much faster. I've stopped painting my nails because it grows out (like up the nail) so quickly that I cba to paint them more often. And my highlights grow out so quickly that my hair needs highlights more often and gets to look brown rather than blond

Collagen naturally occurs on the body. Gelatin is collagen that has been cooked.
The point is, you can shove whatever you want on your face, swallow what you want, but it will not replace your natural collagen, which depeletes as we age.
If it were as simple as using a bit of gelatin or a collagen, chronic wounds such as leg ulcers would heal (if underlying conditions are also treated). Even 'collagen' dressings are largely ineffective despite their price.

But women will continue to fall for the myths that 'amazon gathered leaf dew' will make you look younger, or that a cream full of collagen will 'plump your cheeks and make you look youthful and glowing' because 97% oof 3 women said they worked...

I have naturally collagen rich diet and tbf I do have less wrinkles than many people around me and my joints are good. Strong nails too.

I don't believe that it can reverse things. That claims are bit dodgy imho.
