To think we should get a refund?

This is so completely trivial and insignificant that I should just get over it but it has spoiled a family birthday meal...

We ordered a takeaway for a family birthday. We rarely do so because one member of the family can't eat (medical) a certain food, but this restaurant has a reputation for managing that very well.

DD (adult) rings up and orders various dishes the whole family. Most of them are favourites, one (a shared main) is new to us. Let's call it dish A.

She asks if dish A contains any of the problem ingredient. They tell her it's no problem, it can be made without that ingredient (which is not the main part of the dish)

Food arrives. Dish A nowhere to be seen. Instead there is a main course portion of dish B. Dish B is nothing like what we wanted.

DD rings up.

Restaurant tells her that they gave us Dish B because Dish B does not contain the ingredient.

There was no conversation about Dish B at the time of ordering.

We could eat Dish B in theory but we just don't like it, and it also happens to be made very badly (vegetables are clearly mixed frozen) and therefore inedible.

DH paid on his credit card so I can't ask them directly for a refund. He says it's not worth the hassle. For me it spoiled the birthday meal. Now two of us have one side dish to share, and nothing else.

AIBU to think that A) the restaurant should refund the cost of the unwanted dish and B) DH should ask them to?

Yanbu - there was no talk of dish B when ordering and they also confirmed they could make dish A without the problem ingredient. In your husband's position I'd have requested a refund having explained the above two points to them, but then again, your husband may see this is insignificant in the big scheme of things. It's not a huge deal in the big scheme of things but I understand why it irks you.
