To be pissed off that DH is too lazy to
recycle anything so I end up doing it all!

He refuses to use a towel to dry his hands and he will only use kitchen roll (as an example)

what does that involve?
For me it’s just putting them in internal recycling bin (separate compartment for plastic and one for paper) and then emptying in council bin. No biggie

and why you ask why? what does he say?

Sounds rather controlling of you though

is it a tea towel for drying or a hand towel in the kitchen?

MermaidEyes · 07/12/2023 16:55

What do you mean too lazy? Surely it's the same energy whether you're putting it in the recycling bin or the rubbish bin?

Ljalap · 07/12/2023 16:56

@MermaidEyes
he will never bother to segregate it, just puts it in one bin.

that is worse than not recycling as compromises the recycling if mixed

contactus · 07/12/2023 16:58

does he make any effort towards the environment?

please don’t say he’s a de nier

JurassicFantastic · 07/12/2023 17:01

I feel your pain OP. I'm completely sick of finding plastic bottles and pieces of cardboard in the bin rather than the recycling. My teenagers put them there, yet its always me with my hand in the bin fishing them out.

contactus · 07/12/2023 17:02

i will take a punt Op that this is one issue amongst very very many that annoy you about DH?

StarlightLady · 07/12/2023 17:05

Husbands can be recycled you know.

Ljalap · 07/12/2023 17:43

@StarlightLady 🤣

@JurassicFantastic and it’s always me sorting them!

Anyone else with recycling issues in the fam

So don’t buy kitchen towel, and posing him in the direction of a normal towel.

as to the recycling I don’t have an answer, but would suggest if you have to sort he picks up another of your chores to compensate

Gnomegnomegnome · 07/12/2023 21:32

I’m the only one that puts ours out (ours has to be walked down the lane) but Dh does put stuff by the sink to be washed and will Chuck it in the general vicinity of the recycling bins (apparently the porch is a recycling centre).

bakewellbride · 07/12/2023 22:30

A lot of uk recycling just gets shipped abroad where it's dumped / burned / whatever. Just let it go op. It makes no difference in the grand scheme of things.

ComtesseDeSpair · 07/12/2023 22:35

I think it’s up to him whether he uses a towel or kitchen paper to dry his hands, that level of granularity really isn’t worth getting into.

Can all the various recycling receptacles not live in the same place, so that the only “sorting” is choosing which lid to open? That’s how we have ours, then each gets emptied into the outdoor recycling bin when full.
