To have gas shut off

I woke up at 530 this morning (am 38+5 pregnant) and smelled gas. Called transco and they found a small leak. They have shut the gas off and have warned me that my hob and boiler would be better off being replumbed to speed things up and keep costs down. It is but a small leak, but I am taking no chances. I am supposed to be having a home birth and I am beside myself that it may not happen. DH is furious that I didn't leave it til after the baby as he doesn't think it's that serious and now I am in pieces. AIBU?

YANBU, what is he thinking of? Would he rather you were LITERALLY in pieces?

Can you get someone in quickly to sort it?

Completely not being unreasonable. Your dh sounds like a charmer. Not.

pooka · 14/03/2008 08:07

Out of interest, does your dh work? If he does, then he's out all day while you are more likely to feel dodgy (if only mildly) and alarmed by presence of gas leak

It is a case of bypassing the existing gas lines in the house and running new lines from the meter. He works from home, but says he cant smell it. I cant get over the fact that his little baby boy is in the equation and he still wants to be stingy. Oh my BP is not going to be good. sniff.

I can't smell gas. I have a very bad sense of smell (unless pregnant).

I came home from school when i was about 15yrs, could see the gas board trying to find where the leak was.

Came in started to prepare dinner lit the gas oven all the time ignoring the sound of the path being dug up. When mum came home from work she went mad because the leak was directly outside our house (winter had curtains drawn) blush].

She went mad at the people digging the hole for not knocking to let me know there was a probelm.

Still doesn't agree with me that it was urgent, but at least has a couple of people coming round to try and sort it now. Am still so very angry at his reaction.
