To ask for advice on painkillers

Not strictly Aibu but posting for traffic.

I'm currently unwell with a chest infection being treated with antibiotics. Seen gp couple of times. Antibiotics and rest.

However, my back is incredibly sore from neck to about half way down. Taken naproxen and paracetamol but not touching the pain

Initially thought it was from all the coughing and not moving but pain not shifting.

Has anyone had something like this before, and if so what painkillers worked

Paracetamol and codeine?

Codeine helps with pain and suppresses coughs - it's addictive though if not taken wisely

Speak to a pharmacist. I needed codeine for an identical issue a few weeks ago. I'm now on week 8 of coughing, but it's fading at last.

Also the DROWSY version of cough syrup to sleep at night is an absolute game changer.

I'm surprised naproxen isn't working.

I get brutal chest pain with chest infections. Try co-codamol or speak to GP for codeine.

How long have you been on it for, what dose?

does it feel muscular, off to one side or anything like that?

I have this pain too and was thinking is it the coughing and then I thought maybe I pulled something. But I was in agony last night. Resting in bed the last day just been taking ibuprofen and paracetamol but not with much relief.busing deep heat rub and wheat bag too.

Might try cocodomol if still not any better tomorrow.

So co codomal for three days meant that I slept through the pain, and the antibiotics now seem to be working. So definitely on the mend but feel like I've been completely beaten up
