To point out how utterly wonderful this MNer is? (Christmas!)

My autistic daughter was desperate for some clothing made by her favourite artist who, until recently, only had stores in America.

I had been trying to buy from his online USA based shop but hitting hurdles and the reviews for international postage were dire. Basically it would be a miracle if anything arrived for Christmas, if at all!

I live 'oop North' and he opened a shop in London, that offered no online service. I couldn't even get an email or phone number for this shop, must be part of being 'exclusive?!'

I explained all this to DD who was visably disappointed but accepted that it was impossible in the circumstances and sent me a few links to some 2nd hand pieces on vinted (that were the same price as new BTW! As it's quite rare in the UK)

But I put out an SOS post on mumsnet and this wonderful, wonderful lady took time out of her day to go to the shop during her lunch break at work, tell me what was there, talk to the assistants to figure out what was available in DDs size and she bought and posted them to me!

They have just arrived and I could almost cry, not just because DD will get the gifts that she wanted and thought were unattainable (it's going to be a relax surprise!) but because they are presents that have true Christmas spirit and kindness attached to them as corny as that sounds!!

So thankyou so much @SollaSollew

You really are amazing and have made Christmas for us!

I hope that fabulous MNer is reading this and knows that there is an internet stranger who wants to throw their arms around them in a massive Christmassy hug.

What an incredibly sweet and kind act, just lovely

@L9ndonShop As an Autistic mother to Autistic children I understand this so much. What a heartwarming story. Well done to @SollaSollew who has made my day as well as yours & your DD's!

Merry Christmas to you all 🙂

Vuurhoutjies · 05/12/2023 14:40

Oh wonderful! I was on your original thread (on a different name) and I remember it well. I'm so glad it's all sorted out now!!! Yay for Mumsnet!

TokyoSushi · 05/12/2023 14:44

Oh well done @SollaSollew MN is such a lovely place, in amongst all the batshittery!

ClaireEclair · 05/12/2023 14:45

That is so lovely. Christmas Spirit is really around at the moment. Just read that Ricky Gervais donated £1.9 million to various animal charities (my favourite charity which is small benefited and it really helped them out). I have cried twice today but happy tears and this is one of the posts that did it! 😊💝

SollaSollew · 05/12/2023 14:55

Oh gosh @L9ndonShop just been to do a bit of light Christmas shopping of my own, have come back to a load of notifications and wondered what was going on!

You're so very welcome, being able to do this (and the wonderful thread) has already made my Christmas.

Thank you to everyone for such lovely warm words, there are so many brilliant, caring, amazing women here and I wish all of you a magical Christmas ❤

Mum of a ASD teen here, struggling to stop sobbing at this. How lovely. Well done that mumsnetter.

ZombieBoob · 05/12/2023 15:12

I think I remember your post was it about trying to somehow make one's?

Either way so glad you got some

Marionberry · 05/12/2023 15:14

MN used to be a lot more like this. About 15 years ago I was asking about a promotional breakfast bowl that you got with tokens and someone offered me the bowl. We met up in a pub for a coffee, she bought her toddler DD who I had bought a gift for, she refused to take money for the bowl so I’m glad I took the gift.
