we are married & happy, i get on well with MIL too but i just don't fancy going. 'Oh but think about their faces...' they all say but i don't want to, will i regret it?

why don't you want to go?

I must admit I have never fancied Lapland either.

Too fecking cold.

Never mind the kids, its got to be something you really want to do too.

i don't really know why i don't want to. Rather spend cash on something else, bloody long way to go for 2 days! we normally go off to the Lakes dh & i and leave kids with my mum then. Perhaps i'd just like 2 days here, roaring fire, reading books and drinking tea and being on my own? I think that's it perhaps that's decided me!

Quite agree. The time to go to Lapland is in August, when the sun is up, so you can actually see the place. It's pretty! Well worth seeing. Which is precisely what you can't do at Christmas time.

Tell DH that it is a special time for him and his Mum to spend with the children!

that is what I told my DH and he took the boys to Italy for 5 days!!

bliss!!!!!!!!!!
