Racist remark?

Would you class this remark said about Nella , a contestant on ‘I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here’ as racist?
“Every Time I see her on I’m a celeb she reminds me of The Goodies song The Funky . Gibbon”. It was comment made by a man on a Facebook post about her. She’s black, very disruptive in camp and never out of the papers.
I think it is racist and called him out on it and said ‘Are you aware that that’s a racist comment?’. He asked how I came to that conclusion
I replied that he was comparing her to an Ape.
He still couldn’t see and called me a Woke Twat, believed men could change sex etc. I’ve blocked him.
I don’t know how to link but the lyrics can be found on Google

I haven't watched the programme and I don't know who she is, but I remember the song. Of course comparing a black woman to a gibbon is racist.

Don't know why his trans beliefs are relevant though?

I wish people would stop using "woke" like some kind of an insult it's tedious.

Anyway I don't know the song but yes I imagine it was racist.

Was he referring to something in the actual lyrics unrelated to race or suggesting that she reminded him of a gibbon? It's important.

As I also don’t watch I’m a celebrity, nor know anything about her, unless she’s famous for in a zoo doing a dance chanting ooh ooh ooh then I’m opting for racism ….. and particularly outdated 50 year old racism

Never heard of her, and she sounds very irritating, but yes I'd say that's pretty racist. I don't see how it wouldn't be tbh.

There's no gibbon -funky or otherwise- on the video i don't think. It is just theGoodies wearing dungarees doing a silly dance

It's racist. But my advice would be to stop engaging with random people of Facebook. It's like King Cnut trying to hold back the tide.
