bit of a desperate one but hoping someone can help!
ive been looking for a dress for an event- im very specific about the shape and style of the dress because im a funny shape but ive finally found 2 dresses that I really like. the only thing is I'd like to add a little bit of sparkle to it. I was thinking of putting either some of the diamond studs (not sure the proper name!) or pearls, I've googled it a bit and it says its fairly easy to sew them on. the material looks sort of chiffony- one dress is 100% polester and the other is 95% polyester 5% elastane.

am I being ridiculous or would it be possible for someone who can only do very basic sewing to do this? I really like both dresses and just wanted a little sparkle but dont want to make a mess of it either :(

I think you could do this. I learned sewing from my mum originally but picked up a lot more little techniques in later life from places like YouTube. Try looking for a video tutorial, there should be some good simple ones out there.

Have plenty of practice first on a separate piece of fabric, ideally something of a similar feel and 'weight' /texture to your dress. Plan out exactly where you would put them. Be slow and methodical about it, don't rush. You can do this!

If the fabric is stretchy ( elastane content) sew each bead on separately. Bit more.work, but sewing thread doesn't stretch and might break, sending your beads all over the floor!

Otherwise, it is not a difficult job at all.
