I can't bear Galaxy chocolate, but I like Cadbury. My husband loves both!

Poudretteite · 01/12/2023 10:18

Nah

Crispedia · 01/12/2023 10:18

Sorry I love chocolate and have a sweet tooth but Galaxy - and Galaxy caramel even more so - is far too sickly sweet for me with little cocoa taste.

It's the crispy outside vs gungy inside that does it for me.

I do like me a Bourneville/dark choc to though.

It's pure heaven with black coffee. I bite off a square of Galaxy caramel then take a sip of coffee.....so, so good.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 01/12/2023 16:01

YABU. Galaxy is very far from being posh-tasting chocolate! It's cheap, over-sweet, claggy and sickly.

porridgeisbae · 01/12/2023 16:06

@AllProperTeaIsTheft They do a variety of somewhat posher bars now.

OP posts:
AllProperTeaIsTheft · 01/12/2023 16:08

Yes, but it's an inherently not-posh brand.

Cumberbiatch · 01/12/2023 16:08

Absolutely lovely.
Am wondering how long it will take until someone turns up to say all chocolate these days is "vile". The oneupmanship regarding chocolate snobbery on MN is hilarious.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 01/12/2023 16:10

I don’t like galaxy caramel much because I find it too sickly sweet. Though I agree that plain galaxy is much nicer than Cadbury’s.

porridgeisbae · 01/12/2023 16:19

As to sweetness, I can even sit and eat a whole pot of caramel Carnation.

Yep or the teeny tinies saying they never touch the stuff, only cacao or something.

It's not really snobbery to think that chocolate full of palm oil and soy doesn't taste that nice. And it doesn't have to be a posh or expensive brand to be good. I mostly buy the Aldi premium ranges of chocolate. Much better than Cadbury's, Galaxy, Thornton's etc, and definitely not snobby.

TravellingT · 01/12/2023 16:25

I can't stand galaxy, but I am very much looking forward to the cadbury share bags I have lined up to eat while decorating the tree tonight. Enjoy yours!

iPreferBooks · 01/12/2023 16:34

I swear galaxy choc is thinner than it used to be :(

Lovehearts82 · 01/12/2023 16:39

I love Galaxy chocolate and my fave is the galaxy Caramel too op 😋 But i just love all Chocolates made by Mars. Wishing i had some now. Enjoy your heavenly chocolate 🍫

porridgeisbae · 01/12/2023 16:50

@iPreferBooks Normal galaxy is a bit dull but the smooth caramel and salted caramel are nice.

porridgeisbae · 01/12/2023 16:51

@Lovehearts82 Maybe you could have a little something tomorrow. Smile Or I have a major Uber Eats habit this week I need to get out of again.

Does anyone else find that caramel doesn't taste of anything these days? It used to taste like liquid toffee - all sort of buttery and creamy (rubs thighs), but nowadays it's just like a greasy, sticky 'stuff' in the middle of things.

But Galaxy chocolate is my favourite of the chocolate I can eat (recently developed migraines at the merest hint of dark chocolate).

Galaxy is made by Mars, isn't it?

So produced in the UK, but owned by an American conglomerate.

Probably not as plastic as Cadbury's Dairy Milk, although I'm not sure about the palm oil content in Galaxy.

Portakalkedi · 01/12/2023 17:25

Cadbury is all shite since the introduction of the cost saving (and profit boosting no doubt) palm oil. Wouldn't have it given to me now, ditto Ferrero Rocher for the same reason - was given a box last christmas, I ate one and gave them to DH, who reluctantly finished them over a couple of weeks. Galaxy used to be lovely but has gone down the same path. Aldi and LIdl choc is still good, no crap in it.

BerfyTigot · 01/12/2023 17:33

I've just been forced to add it to my online shop for tomorrow 😁
