I know it’s not at aibu but i’m worried about my DS?

He always seems to have a stuffy nose or a cold and when he’s just sat down, chilling, his breathing sounds like a gentle snore.
He says he feels like bre. athing is always difficult for him, as if he “can’t take in enough air”.

He’s early teens

Someone suggested a gluten intolerance but can it cause all this?

Any help would be welcome.

Has he been to the Dr?
Could be numerous things, asthma, dairy, sinus issues.

JustTalkToThem · 30/11/2023 22:34

Have you not taken him to a doctor? I don’t know if Mumsnet would be where I’d come for medical advice.

You need to get the poor lad seen as soon as possible.

Really don’t understand why you haven’t done that already!!

Octavia64 · 30/11/2023 22:49

He's got a lot of mucus.

This will be dues to the immune system detecting something it doesn't like, but whether he has an infection, an allergy or a food intolerance you need a doctor to tell.

I’ve taken him to the doc’s but it was suspected hay fever. I will take him back but i don’t want another nothing obvious found/maybe hay fever situation .

That’s why i’ve ended up looking into gluten.
We cut out gluten and dairy as a toddler because we suspected intolerance but he controls what he eats now so it’s harder. He felt like he was missing out and he seemed fine with it.

It’ll probably be quicker to get a gluten/dairy allergy or intolerance test done privately so i’ll do that. I remember when i wanted a test for myself, i had to wait a long time so i just cut it out.

Have his adenoids been looked at?

Cestfoutu · 30/11/2023 22:56

Ask your gp for a referral to an ENT consultant. I had constant colds, chest infections and problems for decades. Turned out I had very narrow sinuses. Had a minor operation and now rarely get any problems.

My son was like this. He had a deviated septum. Once it was corrected he was fine.

Allergic rhinitis......allergic to house dust mites maybe? Try some antihistamines.

Thank you all.
Ive got a list of things to consider/bring up.
I really appreciate the help.
